Decent rye, rye is a little underwhelming, decent hop profile, good enough for a mix pack, but not anything outstanding.

Tan to brown in color with a taller off-white head. Dry malt, light rye spice and hints of minty hops. Light airy feel. Not a big rye brew. Simple flavors. Lightly malty, earthy and bit of rye spice. 1/14

Rated on 12-11-2013 (Bottle (Best by 03-24-2014) from Kroger’s Marketplace-Fort Wayne, IN) This beer’s appearance is a large smooth ivory head with a short retention, orange transparent body, slow rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma is rye, toasty, malt, caramel, and light spice. The flavor mimics the aroma. The mouthfeel of this beer started out lightly carbonated and finished smooth. This beer is medium bodied. This beer is easy drinking, but lacks character.

12 oz bottle pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of sweet malts and spice. Taste is sweet upfront then goes to the spicy rye.

355 ml bottle from czar, thanks buddy. Pours a flakey orangeish brown with a thick, creamy, resilient beige head. Aroma is caramel, spices. Flavor is caramel, spices, brown sugar and rye. Finish is spicy and tobacco. Lingering caramel, milk chocolate. Medium body, sticky, creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2014 bottle from mix pack. hazy amber with e small creamy head. aroma is lighter than its amber color suggests. a toasty flavored beer. after the rye, it emphasizes on the amber and melanoidin malt. lightish body with quite a bit of carbonation. i enjoy this more and more.

Bottle into a glass. Dark amber pour with a thin cream head. Aroma is faint. Mostly sweet roasted malt and a bit of rye spice. Taste is lightly bitter, a bit of rye spice. Taste is also a bit...thin. Bit of spiciness, some grass, way too much sticky sweet roasted malt....Not at all refreshing.

Bottle from Mile High Wine and Spirits. Pours slightly hazy brown with a ring of a white head. I had pretty high expectations for this one given the fact that I really enjoy rye beers and nearly everything Boulevard brews. The aroma is kind of a let down in the sense that it just seems like a brown ale. It’s toasty, nutty and sweet. I probably couldn’t pick the rye out solely based on the nose. The palate is lighter than the color may lead one to believe. Rye is more noticed in the flavor, but rather than being fully spicy or dry, lots of Melanoidin balances things out. It’s a malty beer with no real emphasis on hops. Flavors of chestnuts and rye toast stand out. It’s a decent, medium-light bodied malty beer, but it’s not the kind of beer I prefer.

Bottle from sampler pack pours a hazy brown with a fluffy off-white head with good retention Aroma is not strong, but is mostly wheat Tastes slightly sweet and caramelly with a sour finish. Hardly any rye to my taste.Body is medium with only slight carbonation. Easily drinkable, but nothing very memorable, good or bad.

Hardly any aroma, wheat. Taste is wheat, corn meal, hint of rye. Aftertaste is not great, sour, rye.

Aroma is tangy and the taste is a little caramel, toasted malt and tangy as well. Color is deep copper with a thin white head that retains well. Just enough buffering hops to balance. I think it is a pretty decent beer. Not sure how to compare as I haven’t had a lot of rye beers.
