1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bomber. Pours dark brown, practically no head. Practically no aroma? Or taste? Astringent bitter finish. Medium body. Warming alcohol finish. May have gotten a bad bottle. Or this cold has completely crushed my sense of smell and taste. Will re-rate next time I find this.

Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a dark red/brown color with a nice finger’s worth of a level white foamy head. Quick dissipation. Moderate lace.
The aroma had a rich nutty maltiness with some vanilla, raisins, caramel and bread. Slightly spicy hops for balance.
The flavor leans sweet nutty initially and then opens up for more of a balance with the hops. Still, they’re not too strong and ends up creating a nice lingering bready/malty aftertaste with the spicy hops. Quick balanced finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt at the projected strength and seemed good.
Overall, nicely done English strong ale. If I could I would have this again. slowrunner77 (13204) - Reno, Nevada, USA - FEB 14, 2017
A little muddled but still a fairly pleasant floral malty brew. Some raisins caramel and bread with a hint of bitterness. Capa (3616) - DC, Washington DC, USA - JAN 15, 2017
Deep brown. Sweet malt, toffee, light toasted malt. There seems to be some slightly underdeveloped wet malt in this one. The booze really plays here, too. Decent. cobaink2 (839) - seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 29, 2015
Roasted caramel and a little juiciness on the end. Somehow I remember this being a bit more balanced in years past. This seems like just a liquor taste up front with some sideways caramel that quite be explained. nealblind (2007) - Seattle, Alabama, USA - JUL 7, 2015
red brown pour. Slight tan head. Aroma super fruity apples grapes tobacco. Tastes cinnamon spice. some bitter hard carb full body

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear dark brown color with a somewhat large tan head on there. Nose seem to have a mix of stale grass and toasted malts to it. Taste is slightly bitter and has a bite to it, but taste a little stale to me. Meh. deyholla (12582) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 14, 2015
Bottle. Pours a clear amber brown with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma combines bread and biscuit notes with some sweet grains underlying. Flavor has sweet grains and a touch of caramel with some biscuit and a bit of toffee. Ferris (17070) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 15, 2014
Draft - Toasty, nice sweetness and a touch of spice. Cloudy brown with a nice light brown head. Cocoa, toast and some spice with a light boozy finish. Chocolate, candy and light bitterness are also there. A decent winter warmer. KansaiBeerLvrs (5498) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 14, 2014
On tap at Rokko Beer Diner, 7.2%. It pours a dark ruby brown that is almost black in the glass with a thick fizzy beige head plus good lacing. The aroma is malty with fruity fig plus candied plum notes. Medium to light bodied with a soft smooth mouthfeel but a bit chalky. The taste is nutty, light chocolate, leathery, earthy, sweet candied fruits like apricots... Kind of getting mild fruit cake notes & hints of spices in the finish. Pretty nice enough winter warmer. Pours dark brown, big tan head
Smell sweet, nutty, candy and toffee, bit of caramel
Taste sweet, light roast and spice, close to a scotch ale but a bit more hop presence
Light to mid body, drinks smooth for 7%
