Dark brown color with red shades, and creamy head. Ordinary aroma and flavor of caramel, with some malt; good body structure; it has some spices, both in the aroma and flavor, cinnamon and nutmeg apparently; bold bitterness. Good but not exciting.
Sampled on tap at Boundary Bay Brewpub, pours dark amber. Aroma of caramel malts, X-mas spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.) and vanilla. Flavour of nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and light fruits. A slightly thin palate. Decent. Oakes (17664) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 16, 2005

Dark amber colour. Slightly chocolatey, minty, sprucy aroma - none used, though. A little bit thin. Accent is towards toffeeish, slightly chocolatey malt notes.
Draft - Toasty, nice sweetness and a touch of spice. Cloudy brown with a nice light brown head. Cocoa, toast and some spice with a light boozy finish. Chocolate, candy and light bitterness are also there. A decent winter warmer. bhensonb (15188) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 17, 2011
Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours dark ruddy copper with a creamy beige head. Aroma of warm roast caramel with a touch of floral hop. Full bodied. Flavor is caramel, hint of vanilla, moving towards brown sugar, with some lightly spicy floral hop. Very smooth. Tasty.

(22oz bottle, courtesy of AmEricanbrew) Pours a hazy amber-brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel, cherry, light pine, roasted malt, and earth. Flavor of cherry, caramel, noticeable oxidation, and toffee. slowrunner77 (12037) - Reno, Nevada, USA - FEB 14, 2017
A little muddled but still a fairly pleasant floral malty brew. Some raisins caramel and bread with a hint of bitterness. deyholla (11597) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 14, 2015
Bottle. Pours a clear amber brown with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma combines bread and biscuit notes with some sweet grains underlying. Flavor has sweet grains and a touch of caramel with some biscuit and a bit of toffee. hopscotch (11078) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 26, 2008
Bottle... Backus’s Backdoor Bash ‘08... Clear, deep amber ale with a mid-sized, fluffy, khaki head. Good retention. Earthy, toffee and caramel nose. Medium to full-bodied with a nice, silky mouthfeel and nearly-expired carbonation. Not much going on, flavor-wise. A layer of sweetness teases my tongue, but doesn’t really deliver on the promise of full, malty flavor. Finishes mildly sweet and lightly bitter. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 20, 2008
Tasting at mcbackus 10/19. Dark amber pour. Tan head. Aroma is yeast, spices, hops, and some bread. Flavor is pretty good. I get some bread, yeast, sweetness and a hint of the alcohol. I liked it pretty well.
