Tap at Craft Beer Base Bud. Aroma pine and choc, taste is good, chocolate sweetness, bit of caramel, hoppiness at the back but still there. Good stuff.

Tap at Bud Pitch black, slightly cloudy, low fine head. Chocolate, cascade-like citrus hops, lemon, orange nose. No roast. Full-on chocolate and citrus flavor, rich malt, good hops, no roast, as I like it. Medium bitterness. Good. BrewDad (5667) - Olympia, Washington, USA - APR 30, 2013
Black in color clear with a thin head. Nice Black IPA aroma and good flavors. This was easy and made for a wonderful rendition of the CDA I look for. mcberko (18956) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 16, 2013
On cask at Boundary Bay, pours a deep dark amber tinged brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is beautifully roasted, with dry roasted malts upfront, followed by some woody piney hops. Flavour brings out wonderfully dry roasted malt, a little bitter espresso and some piney hops. The balance is superb, balancing the hops and roast beautifully. Excellent stuff. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - APR 9, 2013

Dark, almost opaque brown color, beige-brownish head, lace. Aroma is mainly pine needles. Medium-bodied. Flavor has suprisingly first butterscotch, buttery notes! Then piney, hoppy flavors. Dark Czech pils? :) Aftertaste is piney hoppy with sweetier notes.
Nose of dark roasted malts, nice fruity hops, some citrus and pine, a touch of roast. Pours dark brown, almost black with a thin off white head. The flavor is nice and roasty with some patent malts, light sweeter dark malts, and fruity piney hops in the finish. Comes off as tropical at times, nice citrus, and some floral/pine in there as well. Good stuff. bvc (1244) - Washington, USA - FEB 25, 2011
Draft at Brouwer’s. Pours a very dark, almost black, opaque brown with a thin but creamy looking khaki head. Nose is mellow on the patent malt and has a light touch of fruity hop with just a hint of pine. Smooth even carbonation and mouth feel. Roasty chocolate malts with light nutty coffee hints. Hops are balanced between sweet pine and hints of tropical fruit. Some bittering on the end to let you know it is an ipa, but nothing over the top. Easy drinking and no flaws. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - FEB 22, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2011 Draught @ Brouwer’s Café: Very heavy brown, thin sudsy off-white head, fairly decent lacing. Really soft hop and roasted malt presense. Doesn’t seem like a bruiser, on either side. Nice hop profile, very hoppy yet not biting. Roasted malts are there, nice background and certainly not overshadowing what I prefer these beers to be, IPA centric and not roasty hop bomb. This roastiness lends a nice balance to this IPA. Body and mouthfeel are full to moderate. A ltitle biting on the backside, but its minor. I enjoyed this one, could be toned down a bit on the hop aspect a touch, perhaps because the roastiness is not huge, but other than that its a solid example! swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - FEB 20, 2011
