Draft - Caramel, chocolate and some light barrel notes. Dirty brown with a decent beige head. Sweet barrel notes, caramel and a sweet decent finish. Quite a bit of barrel notes, but decent. mcberko (18390) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 6, 2015
2014 vintage. On tap at WA Winter Beer Festival 2015, pours a murky reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out English bready malts, whiskey barrels, and toffee. Flavour is a whiskey bomb, with loads of barrels and booze, followed by English bready malt and some toffee. Rather harsh and boozy, but it’s very pleasant in its abrasive mess. I enjoyed it. bvc (1242) - Washington, USA - OCT 24, 2009
12oz draft at Brouwer’s. Pours a still dark brown with a few bubbles. Nose is sweet apple, date and brown sugar...but really too much apple. Thin watery body with more apple and caramel. A bit of spice and a touch of barrel, but I ended up giving the rest of this to someone else. carruthm (1401) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 24, 2009
on tap at brouwer’s WA fest. nice malty english notes, dark color, big on caramel. acblue (91) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 24, 2009
Faint oaky aroma, bronze color, small white head. Bourbon gets in the way of this one a bit, but nice malty sweetness is prevalent.

draft @ Brouwer’s Big Wood - clear, dark brown; sweet, toasty, malty aromas; a little hot and very sweet;spices are muted from the bourbon; decent overall and not barrel busted like some of the others AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - DEC 8, 2008
Deep mahogany color with a tan head. Spicy brown ale and wood bourbon aromas. Medium body. Rich oaky spicy toasted caramel flavors with a taste of vanilla. Overall this ones on the sweet side, and a nice twist to the base brew. Oakes (18167) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 6, 2007
Cloudy dark amber/light brown colour with a bare minimum of head. Big, oaky nose with toffeeish elements underneath, late toast and alcohol. Flavourwise, this is light, toasty, oaky with a toffeeish accent and a hint of late alcohol. The oak is an interesting accent but ultimately its neither here nor there.
