We asked the 999 New Zealanders of our Tasting Committee what they wanted in a lager and The Chosen One was the answer. Thanks, all our tasters. Its a new twist on a classic brew with a blend of two NZ grown hops and two NZ grown malts leading to a biscuity base with a soft bitterness and a pleasant hop aroma. At least thats what our Head Brewer says.

Hard to tell this was a lager. It looked like an ale but tasted fresher. It was always going to be difficult to live up to expectations when you are called The Chosen One. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I hate lager, but this is better than many. If youre stuck somewhere with a dire selection, this is not too offensive. Not too sweet and even had the merest hint of flavour to it.

Hard to determine what sort of biscuits the brewers think it tastes like - certainly not ginger nuts! Has a very clear golden colour and a light head.

Golden coloured beer with a fast diminishing white head. Grain and straw in the nose. Flavour is the same. (Bottle 33cl)

3fourths (9299) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 27, 2013
Mild nose of toasted grain, dough, french bread and honey with faint touches of calcium and sulfur and toasted corn kernels. Medium body, lightly sweet, low bitterness, syrupy / chewy texture in the finish. The malt is corn-like and has a distinct twang across the middle before breaking into a crisp, lip-smacking finish. It lacks the minerality of the Czech-style Pilsner and its malt-focused, as it should be, but the extraction isnt as clean, giving it a twangy, almost plastic-like flavor. Clear rich gold with a fine-bubbled white head, from bottle.

Bottled. A dark golden beer with thin white head. The aroma has notes of malt and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

We asked the 999 New Zealanders of our tasting committee what they wanted in a lager and their answer was "One like everything else." And thats all it is.

Light orange colour with no head. Noaroma and low levels of malt and hop.Tingly mouthfeel but is bland and uneventful. I wouldnt have chosen it I wonder what the options were?

Pour is gold, ultra-clear, fizzy body with virtually no head. Nothing much in the aroma, faint malt, yeast, honey and some soap. Taste is better, clean, fresh lager with a short finish. Very light, bordering on watery bodied. Not overly fizzy.
