Cask at Three Judges. It pours deep ruby with a small beige head. The nose is earth, red berry, jam, cherryade and permanent marker pen. The taste is smooth, toast, earth, dried fruit, red berry, faint jam and light tartness with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice red berry action going on. Very drinkable.

Red berry, malt, dark berry, liquorice smell. Red goldgold with tan head. Creamy light refreshing body. Roast caramel with plum. Coffee and nuts with a dry smoky finish. The ash taste is a little off.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A brown beer with no head. The aroma has notes of malt and nuts. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and some nuts, leading to a dry finish. The body is light.

6 Slightly caramelly, slightly lactic and milky
4 Dark reddy brown, small light head
7 Slightly lactic, some raisings and milk pudding.
4 Fullish palate, low carbonation. Nice dry nutty finish.
14 Yes, this was flawed, but what was hiding behind that was glorious.

Cask at the Red Lion, Isleworth, Bank Holiday Festival, 27th August 2010. Perfect brown ale colour with little to no head. Simple malty taste. Tasty, decent UK mild. Not challenging, just nice.

On gravity at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol 7/08/10. Dark, ruddy brown with a decent, off-white head. Caramel, some berry fruit and milky coffee notes, before a decent, dry finish. Good.

From cask. Pours clear and golden deep brown with a small orange glare and an off-white to tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and slight fruity. Fruity and caramelish. Slight bitter.

Cask, White Star, Liverpool. Dark brown with a very thin tan head. Caramel malt aroma. Muted flavour with vague fruitiness leading to a bitter finish. Very watery and insipid.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2007, London. Medium to dark black color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, mild coffee, toffee, vanilla, light licorice. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is creamy but watery, carbonation is flat.
