Allow this beer’s rich chocolate sweetness along with its subtle citrus notes and grassy loveliness to wash over and refresh you with its Lakeland water freshness. Cask (gravity) @ NBF 2015 [ The 40th. Nottingham Beer Festival (The 8th Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival) ], Nottingham Castle, Friar Lane, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EB.

[ As Bowness Bay Swan Black ].
Clear dark red brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, burnt, sweet malt, dark malt, roasted, light fruity hops, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20151007]

Gravity cask at Nottingham festival with fonefan, Charlotte, Boudicca & chriso. Very dark clear maroon color, almost flat. Aroma of toasted brownie. Taste is smooth cocoa. Very nice.

Cask @ The Raven, Wigan. Very dark with a creamy head. This has nut heavy roasted malts in both its aroma and taste. Fairly dry tasting.

Cask at the Le Gothique’s Halloween Beer Festival 2013. Poured a dark ruby colour with a scummy beige head. Aroma was Oxo-like with roasted malt and grass. Dark fruit flavours with some straw and an odd hint of salt beef. Finish was prunes, molasses and resin.

Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival - Le Gothique, London. Pours clear brown with a bubbly tan head. The aroma has light roasted malts, coffee and dry chocolate. Light to medium sweet is the flavor with faint tangy dark fruits, moderate chocolate. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dirty chocolate finish with mellow earth. Good one.

Cask conditioned gravity dispense Banbury Beer Festival 10/05/13. A black beer with a little whitish wisp of head. A dry smoky beer. Some bitter roast. A veggy edge. Quite pleasant but not over burdened with flavour.
