3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, LCBO. Dark ruby red with a creamy tan head. Really nutty sweet aroma, excellent. Taste is sweet and nutty as well and the body is very creamy. Some dark fruit up front as well. I’m not sure about "old ale" but this one is an excellent brown ale.

Bottle - 500ml. Pours a dark brown body with average carbonation and a thin, off-white frothy head. Good malty aroma with roasted cereals and some chocolate hints. Its rustic, well balanced malty/hoppy taste carries grainy and coffeeish notes. Ends with a decent bitter/roasty finish. Enjoyable. Tranquillity (2333) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 1, 2016
Bottled. Dark brown, big beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke and nuts. Taste of the same. Very smooth body. Alpha10 (757) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 28, 2016
2016/08/28 - Bottle from A17. Pours a clear ruby brown colour with a creamy, off white was that lingers and leaves moderate splotchy lacing. Aroma is cocoa, toffee, blackberry jam, toasted bread, light wood and a hint of smoke. Taste is roasted/smokey malt, cocoa, coffee, more jam and ash. Mouthfeel is medium and slick with smooth carbonation and a drying, slightly chalky finish. Rather drinkable.

Bottle to stange like glass
Consummation: Bacony, acidic, soy malts
Adjunct: Reddish brown with a thin light tan head, medium bodied and a little warm; smells of bacon and malts. BreWedge (534) - goose bay, Newfoundland, CANADA - APR 26, 2016
500 ml bottle. Pours a clear chestnut brown with a small mocha head. Aromas are dark fruit, wood, and molasses. Tastes are ripe fruit, some toastiness, and crystal malt. Medium body and carbonation, medium warm and bitter finish. Not bad. Crockett (1117) - Southampton, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 2, 2015
Pours clear deep brown/red with a short lived off-white head. Nose of molasses, traces of fruit bread, and booze. Body is a tad thin and flat. Notes of strawberry, anice, and citrus peel, sitting on top of heavy roasted crystal/biscuity malts. Nutty. Bitter. It’s peculiar. Mineral and meat broth finish. I wouldn’t have pegged this as an old ale, more like a thin porter.
