3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at Andy’s corner bar. Deep reddish copper brown in color with an off white head. Malty caramel toasty aroma. Malty, caramel bitter flavor. Some diacytel notes. Medium bodied. If it wasn’t for the diacytel it would be a really nice beer. I did enjoy the first few sips.
Bottle to mug, the appearance was a semi-dark amber to brown color with a small white foamy head that slid off fairly nice. Stringy sliding lace.
The aroma had some walnut sweet and roastiness, some leather, subtle milk chocolate, driftwood, cedar, coffee beans and some earthy hops.
The flavor yielded to the walnut roastiness at first and lightened up with the sweetness from the chocolate and nut sweetness. Slight aftertaste of the walnut, and earthiness. Semi-dry finish.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt good.
Overall, pretty good brown worthy of coming back to. obxdude10 (2374) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 22, 2015
On nitro at the pub in West Chester. I love beers on cask or on a nitro draft. This was just flat-out disappointing. The beer poured a thin brown color with an amber cue. The head was thick and laced very nicely. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy with some nutty and caramel flavors. But, overall, this was a shallow and bland offering. ryanscourt (1531) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 2, 2015
Very nice brown ale. Has a good taste for this style. Malty but still refreshing. drsordr (2866) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - JUL 26, 2014
Draft sample at Philly airport. Pours darker amber brown. Nose caramel, brown sugar, molasses. Taste sweet malt front, then the caramel and molasses. Minimal bitterness. Sweeter finish. micronaut129 (241) - chalfontborotowntonbergville, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 17, 2014
a lighter brown colored beer with about an average foam head. Well carbonated.
Wonderful aroma of roasted/toasted malts with subtle hints of fresh hops.
A nice sort of complex malt taste with roasted malts. Tastes like a lighter porter.
Flavor though is weak and watery and a bit gritty or course. I get the impression that it has been diluted.
I think this could be a decent beer if it only had a little more flavor and body.

Bottle. Pours light brown with off white head. Nose and taste of toasted nuts, caramel, walnut and malt. Taste has a hint of cooked vegetables. Lighter medium bodied. Capa (3445) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - DEC 20, 2012
Brown with a white head. Aroma is toasty caramel malt, nutty, light chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor is nutty, sweet malts, chocolate, bready malt. Not a bad brown. keepersj12 (3137) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - DEC 14, 2012
Brown. The aroma is mostly chocolate. The flavor is chocolate as well. Not much else going on. Kind of thin.
