This beer is named after Louie, the original cat that inspired Boxing Cat as the company name. This velvety beer contains several roasted malts including a light dash of smoked malt. The addition of coffee adds a rich complexity to this beer with notes of chocolate, and coffee along with some subtle smokiness. The use of fragrant hops offsets the malt backbone of this beer as they contribute a balanced bitterness and hop bouquet. A truly complex stout with many layers of depth.

Tap at the brew pub. This was the most disappointing of the beers I had there. It has little flavor up front. After awhile some heavy roasted malt shows up and leaves a bitter aftertaste on the tongue. I generally like this style a lot, but this beer didn’t do it for me.

Keg at Ratebeer Best Beer Festival. 31/01/2016. A jet black caramel brown coloured pour with a halo of tan head, Aroma is spicy cinnamon, nutmeg, soft roast and caramel. Flavour is composed of spicy coffee bean, salty roast, spicy bell pepper. Palate is full bodied, spicy, moderate carbonation, salted caramel. Nice!

I am drinking this beer at the Boxing Cat.It is simply a great beer, in my opinion. The body is black and strong, brown and white foam. The carbonation is regular for an imperial stout. The taste is well balanced, vanilla, roasted malt, licor of whisky, alcohol but it is overall really pleasant.

On tap at CBC 2013. Pours black with a beige head. Quite sweet with a moderate bitterness. Malty aromas of chocolate with notes of toffee. Also light notes of prunes, apples, cask wood, wine and vanilla. Medium to full bodied. Medium carbonation. Dry finish.

Poured up on tap at RBWG16 where it exhibits a nice inky black body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up burnt chocolate brownies, dark roasted malts and then chocolate bar toward the end of the draw. Nice! The taste is similar as I get dark roasted to burnt malts and then a chocolate brownie sensation. Wow, this is smooth and rich and deep. Terrific sipper.

Draft - Big roasty notes off the bat. Jet black with a decent beige head. Roasty and ticks all the boxes of the style. Solid.

Taste comprises light charr, roasted tones, chocoalte, light hop presence, dark malts, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Drinkable impy but lacks oomph.
