Cask at The Holy Inadequate, Etruria. A clear deep amber colour with a medium off white head. Aroma of chestnuts, slight farmyard, a little caramel and subtle earthy hops. Taste of caramel, some toffee, slight chestnuts, a little spiciness, a hint of dark chocolate and subtle earthy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dryish, dark chocolate, earthy hop bitterness in the finish. A smooth, malty bitter. Gets more nuttier and hoppier through the pint. Good attempt but not my kind of bitter.

Brown ale with pale beige, creamy head and deep, warm chestnut brown colour. Dried fruits and caramel malts, bit metallic, finishing very lightly toasted. Nice session beer, as an old-fashioned English brown ale should be.

Cask @ JDW The Rawson Spring, Hillsborough [200314] [From memory as notes lost] Caramel brown, white head. Aroma of soft caramel and sweet toffee. Taste same as aroma, some nice soft sweet toffee in here and a bit nutty as I recall. Palate was thin to medium, was a bit creamy. Finish of smooth soft toffee. Was OK and finished the half.
