2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
12oz bottle pours a hazy brownish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is like a caramel apple with a hint of hops, ick. Taste is very sweet caramel malt with some hop spice that stings the palate, has a sweet yet bitter finish. Overall just too sweet and muddled which works against the hops.
WL beer from Adam. Thanks? ;) Pours a deep amber with minimal head. Aroma is tire fire, stale malt and some caramel. Taste is sour milk to start, rancid caramel, burnt hotel coffee and some lake water. Overall, horrible. jake65 (3695) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - NOV 3, 2013
Bottle: Color is really soft copper and orangish. Thin creamy beige head. The nose is malty, a little sweet, but it also comes off as hot. Florals and light citrus come through at first sip, caramel malts too. This has an edge to it; sort of hints at barleywine, but lacking the flavor depth. Must just be the abv doesn’t balance. Could just be an old bottle… won’t be at the top of my list to re-rate though. mnmike (1086) - Minnesota, USA - JUL 21, 2013
Slightly lack luster IPA - I even tried this after mowing my lawn as the creators likely intended... tmoreau (4365) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JUN 24, 2013
Gift bottle from neighbor’s Minn. trip stash. Poured to a Czech-pils glass with a hazed, orangy amber color, fluffy, off white head foam, and wavy cling to the lacing. The nose was light caramel sweetness, maltiness, and ripe fruit with a bit of dankness. The flavor added a medium hop bitterness that was rind-like, earthy, and lingering. Somewhat harsh, and not a pleasant astringency. Less than medium bodied, drinkable, but not really a palate pleaser. First pull my finger? Ericular (1020) - Minnesota, USA - JUN 15, 2013
Aroma is mild and all malts. Taste follows suit and is incredibly malty. If you’re in the mood for a malt bomb that’s sweet with hardly any hop balance, here you go. Since I was expecting an IPA, this loses a few points overall. Also a bit disappointing that this was brewed in Wisconsin and billed as a Brainerd Lakes beer. Strange.

Poured from a bottle, clear amber color with an off-white beigh head. Very sweet aroma. Taste is not bot, but hops are very week. I don’t want to say it is a bad beer, but very lackluster. I bought this beer thinking it was a local brew(Brainerd Lakes, MN). On Ratebeer it says that they are located in Pilager, MN and brewed at Lake Superior Brewing in Duluth. But on the bottle is say’s brewed at Brainerd Lakes Brewing in Monroe Wisconsin which is Damn near in Illinoise. Very far from Brainerd lakes. Bottled. Poured medium orange with a dense, beige head. The aroma picked up bready and biscuity malt with light fruit and odd herbal accents. The flavor found tangy herbal and medicinal notes throughout, with a bread and honey base.. finished tangy with herbal notes and tacky malts. Light-medium bodied with high-ish carbonation on the palate.. OK feel and flow.. not a good IPA, but a decent drinker. Trev (2023) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - OCT 19, 2012
bottle: Orangish pour with a medium foamy white head.
aroma is flat malt, slight fruitiness and the hop is very subdued, floral perhaps...hard to tell.
flavour is slightly fruity with caramel and cardboard coming to the fore.
Under hopped and thin. portableparty (2350) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - SEP 14, 2012
Bottle. Pours clear amber with a large soapy off white head that slowly fades. Aroma is malt forward with a very faint hop presence. Taste again is malt forward with some spice and mild dry hops in the finish. Palate is thin and chalky. This is a very week IPA definitely more malt than hops in this one! More of an American pale ale. Brown color. Light, dry hop aroma. Flavor is more dry hops and some malt. Not enough hops to be an IPA, but it is OK. If you like Summit EPA, you would probably like this.
