2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2013 On cask at Sherlock Holmes in Aarhus. Good Guinness like stout, but like most it doesn’t measure up to the mother of all stouts. It is one of the better ones out there though. A little lighter and thinner than beforementioned queen of the blacks, with more bitterness in the heart of it, and quite buttery in the head. The carbonation is very soft even for this type of beer and the main noteable touch is one of liqourice on both the back of the tongue and in the roof of the mouth. It was quite interesting, and I may be coming back for another round one of these days.
On tap at City Arms Cardiff. Black coloured, medium sized creamy cappuccino head, mild chocolate nose. Light roasted malt, milk chocolate, notes of caramel and touch of smoked sausages?! with smooth and sweetish finish. Easy-drinkable. Quite good macro stout. Finn (7916) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 1, 2017
Fra keg på Cambrian Tap Cardiff 2 Mai 17. Svart. Lavt lett farget skum. Forsiktig baconaroma. Smaken “smooth”. Litt sjokolade. Blir tørr etter hvert. Spor av mandler i avslutninga. Rune (13353) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAY 28, 2017
Keg, half-pint, shared with Finn at The Cambrian Tap. Solid lacing from a nitro, fawn-coloured head. Jet black body. Chocolate and dark doughy aromas, slightly roasted. Roasted black malty flavours with chocolate. Roasted ending with coffee notes. Rather thin in the mouth. Satisfying, easy drinking stout. (Cardiff 02.05.2017). At just on cool out the widget nitro and into a nonic. Black as midnight with your typical light tan sheen of nitro-foam. Low, smoky ashen and bready, doughy nose with a touch of dusty cocoa and diacetyl. Smooth and flat on the palate with a dry finish of ash and cocoa. Quite thin - this is undeniable - but it does the job. It drinks with such ease. Light VDK buttery tones over hints of burnt sugar, milk chocolate, toasted bread and ash. Lightly astringent and tannic but this melds well with the gentle dark malts. Smashed back a few cans before even finishing this rating. Not a fan of what Brains has become but this one is a quaffable macro-nitro stout. Can’t complain!!! (44cL, BB , The Liquor Shed, Jandakot) Karstenborg (1113) - Hasselager, DENMARK - JAN 21, 2017

Can. Widget? Thin mush end to it all but okay . Not much bitterness coming through . Easy supped but nothing special. Looks ok.
