Keg at De Klomp, Linköping. Dark brown, rich creamy head. Yart licorice aroma. Mid dry with light-medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Some licorice, notes of lemon. Mid bitter finish. Leighton (21255) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2012
Bottle at home in London. Pours red-brown with a frothy, beige head. Some lacto notes in the nose and very modest roast. Lightly sweet flavor, lightly roasty, some dark sugar, faint dirt and minerals, mild cocoa. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish, slightly dry, with a bit of milk chocolate, baking cocoa, modest roasted malts, some burnt wood, light earth. Pretty bland overall, though not offensive. rlgk (18850) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 6, 2013

Bottle from Tesco drunk at home. Dark brown almost black beer with a thin lasting beige head. Roasty chocolate and some liquorice on the aroma. Actually I rather like this. The best Brains beer I think I’ve had. A little thin in the mouth, but highly drinkable. Yes, very drinkable and not much hop or dryness on the finish. Good stout. My kind of stout. imdownthepub (14554) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 16, 2015
Bottled, 500ml from Grimsbury Londis, Banbury, Oxon. Black with cream head. There is a roasty, malty, bitter character to this, a fuller flavour than the ABV would suggest. There is some fruitiness, however; I would pitch this closer to a mild than a stout. Reasonable though.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours dark brown with a red tinge, thin beige head. Aromas are roast malt, chocolate, liquorice. Taste is light sweet, light bitter. Oily mouthfeel, little thin at the end. Ok. Fin (10541) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - SEP 2, 2011
Bottle from Tesco Extra, Bridgend, Wales shared with Gazza and dad consumed 01.09.1. This was labelled as Brains Original Stout Pours black with filmy off-white head. This is quite soft in the mouth, easy drinking beer, some caramel (picked out by Gazza) but there is a smooth watery milk chocolate. Its absolutely fine. We used the rest to make onion gravy I think it worked quite well. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3 ManVsBeer (10467) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 15, 2014

50cl bottle from ABCBeers.
Good tan head. Clear black pour. Nice smooth aftertaste. A decent stout. jmgreenuk (9452) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - SEP 3, 2013
Bottle from Tesco’s. Poured a deep chocolate brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is of roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter with malt, liqourice, some chocolate and surprisingly a little alcohol too.
