SA Gold is a full-flavoured, hoppy and refreshing golden ale, brewed at the home of the famous Brains SA in Wales. Careful use of Target hops creates a satisfying bitterness, perfectly balanced by vibrant citrus aromas and complex hop flavours from late-hopping using Cascade and Styrian Goldings. A deliciously satisfying and refreshing pint!

Sampled from 0.5l bottle @ lfestival Kbenhavn 2012. A near clear straw-golden one with a small and quickly sidesticking just off-white head. The aroma is light hoppy, some acidity also. Citrus and malts. Not extreme. It has a thin and almost watery texture and its average carbonated. Feels at first light sweet in the mouth but the hops kicks in after a while and makes is somewhat fruity. More citrus and perhaps some peachy tones here as well. Ends light mouthdrying in a lasting finish. Not bad! 10.05.2012

Bottle. Mild green apple aroma. Clear golden colour. Small head. The flavour is mildly grainy, but not unpleasant. Has a little citric note, probably from the hops.

Feb 2008: from BA. Youre Welsh and you know you are! Clear 500ml bottle, poured into a straight sided sleeve pint glass. Light, pale golden in colour with not much head to start with, no head after about a minute. Clear and lager like, without the bubbles rising through the body. What smell? A hint of yeast, a fart of hops? Srangely it also has a sweet aroma to it, but cant put my mind to what it is. Oh dear, not a lot going for this beer, dry tasting and boring. The label claims it is refeshingly hoppy, well I cant find any hoppiness at all. Target hops in the brew, late hopped with Cascade and Styrian Goldings, again according to the label. Fizzy and uninteresting, this is a nothing beer and i cant think what the brewer is trying to do here. The normal SA is a wonderful beer, this is far from that. If this is a typical American Blonde Ale (which I doubt) Ill not be having another one in this life.

500ml bottle. Golden pour with white head that sticks around nicely. Pretty skunky on the nose (quite possibly helped by the clear bottle) with a hint of malt underneath. Theres also a distinct lemon Pledge note. About the same on the palate but not as skunky.
