Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Marris Otter, Black, and Crystal malts, Oats, Target hops.
Launched as a 7.2% abv bottle conditioned beer in 2005 when the brewery moved to Witney. In 2011 briefly switched to filtered in 330ml bottles, then back to bottle conditioned at 6.7%, later returning to 500ml bottles. Name changed from Triple to Triple III in 2015.
Thanks to the two fermentations in the Brakspear ’Double Drop’ system, this highly aromatic and satisfying strong beer delivers its rich flavour with subtlety and balance. Crystal, Black and Maris Otter pale malts provide the backbone of this outstanding rich beer. Hops are added three times to provide a good balance between bitterness and fragrance. This is a triple hopped strong beer, packaged in individually numbered bottles.

33cl bottle, No.E53242. Pours reddish mahogany / bronze, a little hazy, with a thin white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is malty balsamic vinegar and caramel fruits. Taste is very strange, like a nutty and sour mash-up between a strong Best Bitter and a Rodenbach Grand Cru. Thin and flat mouthfeel. Rather unpleasant, tipped it down the plughole - possibly a bad batch?

Klar mørk-rød farge med et lite kremfarget skumlag. Aroma av malt, alkohol, karamell og litt sitrus. Medium kullsyre, tørr og litt bitter ettersmak.

Bottle from Tesco Extra, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire Friday 3rd January consumed Saturday 4th January 2014. Pours mid to dark brown a little hazy, the head swiftly departed. Nutty with some vanilla on the nose. Soft in the mouth, a little nuttiness with a big dose of caramel. Not the beer I recall i.e. the previous 7%+ version. Its ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2

Clear deep amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Bit of an odd nose - milky and sour! Palate is light and airy and a little dry. Slightly sour dry fruits with mild dry nuts. Light bitterness before a dry finish. Not convinced this is right, but it’s a pasteurised bottle. Odd!

Lambister (520) - FINLAND - DEC 25, 2013
Bottle from Alko. Clear medium amber colour with a small to average, frothy off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel and some yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and lightly bitter with medium duration with malt extract and caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Decent.

I was hoping for something with some nice big flavours here but instead I got a watery, malty, slightly sweet, nutty and very mildly bitter beer. Certainly drinkable and I like the mildly warming alcohol. It’s very thin in the mouth. Not great but not bad either.

Bottled 330ml Alko. Deep nut brown color, small beige head. Nutty, malty aroma with hints of caramel. Medium-bodied. Nutty, some caramel, alcohol (rhum?) and lingering spicey bitterness in the aftertaste. Quite classical UK strong ale with robust malt profile.

berkshirejohn (6815) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 14, 2013
33cl bottle, number C91670 from Waitrose. A glorious deep copper colour with a ring of translucent head; the aroma has raisins and molasses; the body is rather thin, with the sweetness well balanced by the malts, and a vinous Beaujolais-style taste; then some richly roasted malts add some chocolate and hazlenuts to the finish. An elegant and refined version of a Strong Ale.

very english. dark golden clear colour. a bit off white.head. sweetish. malty and some good hop
