12-ounce bottle pours very dark brown with some ruby highlights when held up to light. Small dark tan head. Some lacing. Aroma: milk chocolate, coffee, anise. Aroma: roasted black patent malt, nuts, licorice, espresso. Full mouthfeel. Too much absinthe aroma and taste for my taste buds, though.

Bottle, curious how this will go because the last time I had absinth was a doozy. Nose is sweet milk chocolate, almost as rootlike smell too, licorice. Pours a midnight black, tan head, little dribbles of lacing. Tastes really complicated. Roasted malt, chocolate, herbs like anise and root, barrel, bitter, dry, coffee really punches through.

On tap @ Les Brasseurs de Montreal. Black pour with a finger of khaki foam. Roasty and slightly ashy aroma. A lot of coffee grounds and some roasted nuts. The flavor is sort of on the bitter side. Kind of herbal. Plenty of licorice and some ashy. A touch of soap and green apple on the finish kind of ruins it, unfortunately.

341ml bottle. Black in colour with a thin beige head, light lacing. The aroma is quite strong, lots of liquorice, chcolate and roasted malts. The flavour is liquorice upfront, alcoholic and lightly roasted. Finishes very long. Very alcoholic for just being around 6%

Ghosttown 6.6% an absinthe stout! A deep brown, almost black with ruby highlights and a filmy tan head. A roasty, nutty, cocoa browny-like aroma which is followed by aniseed absinthe notes - nice. Fairly full bodied and velvety smooth. The taste is complex: black patent malts, black licorice,  soft cocoa, lime, absinthe, coffee... each sip reveals something different. Freakily good.

Bottle. Poured a black color with a small sized tan head. Licorice, some herbalness (especially in the aromas and I’m guessing that is the Absinthe), roast, and chocolate.

Bottle. Beautiful deep brown body, medium mocha head with good retention. Nasty aroma of solvent, leather, herbs and grain. Tastes somehow better, burned coffee, herbs, licorice, caramel, toast. Eh?
