Hazy pale golden coloured body with hints of honey and bronze and a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head after a few centimetres taller right after the pour. Aroma of tea (shocker), fruits (again...), light grain, honey, yeast and a good note of herbal and grassy qualities - definitely fitting for this style of beer (herb/spice). Medium-bodied; Assertive and defining qualities of tea, grain and yeast up front with a light hit of sorghum and millet (also african) and a light spatter of sugars. Aftertaste shows some herbs, a little yeast, grain and a definite rooibos (fruit/herbal tea) flavour that permeates. Overall - true to the name of the beer and the style, however, this doesn’t translate to a great beer on all fronts. That said, if you like light blonde ales and also love tea in general or rooibos tea, specifically - you’ll like this beer very much. Nice to try and a good reminder of why I’m going down to the motherland [of humanity] in the first place. I sampled this 355 mL bottle purchased from Marche des Saveurs du Quebec in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 20-September-2014 for CA$2,55 sampled at home in Washington just two days before leaving again for the great country of South Africa, this time bringing not only a wife, but two kids.

In short: A strange brew with exaggerated herbal spiciness that ends-up being surprisingly drinkable.
How: Tap at Montreal Mondial de la Bière 2009
The look: Cloudy dirty blonde body topped by long-lasting small off-white head
In long: A little spicy on the nose. Not being familiar with the tea being used in this beer I would not have guessed this was tea I was tasting. To me this was very herbal, all kinds of cooking herbal spices, also some ginger, and more… Just a whole lot of herbal spiciness that takes over everything. Malt character, sweetness and everything else goes unnoticed with all this herbal spiciness so upfront. Astringent finish. Unusual for sure and surprisingly not unpleasant. I don’t care much for this brewery with their clean well-brewed products for the mass. But I had this one after the Ontario ratebeer table recommended it to me. Yes a beer recommendation from a Ontario table. Then I asked a table a Mexicans where I could find great sushi.

Aroma of grass, chai tea, and some slight lemon. Flavor is ALL chai, i’m really enjoying this. There is the chai flavor with a slight bitter/dry finish. A very interesting beer.

Note: 6/10

Bottle - 341ml. Nice hazy golden body with a thin white foamy/creamy head. Fresh malty/hoppy aroma with yeasty and herbal (tea) hints. Taste carries strong tea notes. Some citrusy notes are also noticeable. Ends with a decent bittersweet finish. Interesting.

341 ml bottle from St. Nicholas Metro. Pours a lightly cloudy golden yellow with modest-sized white head and fairly steady stream of bubbles. Tea is the primary note in the aroma with wheat, flowers and spices. Flavour has perfumey flowers, Rooibos tea, sweet wheat and a little spiciness. Medium body. Not terrible, not great, but certainly odd.

Bottle 341ml. Pours sligthly hazy pale golden with low white head. No lacing. Aroma is of smoke, flowers, spices, perfume. Taste is of flowers, ""tea"", sligth spices. Palate: Ligth body. Overall: Not good. Perfume. Weird tea. Nothing interesting here, drain pour.

Pours a hazy golden colour with a slight pink hue to it. Decent warm cap with average retention and some foamy lace. Interesting nose with some grain cereals, but with flowers adding light perfume. Medium-light bodied with a little creaminess at first, but finishes dull. The taste is interesting as well. A different type of fruit-like flavour, kind of exotic. Always nice to try something different, but in this case, I am glad I did not have to buy a 6-pack of these.

On tap at the brewery ultra cloudy muddy amber-orange hue, with a small beige head, yeasty, nice spicy fruity nose, reminiscent of strudel, apple croustade pastry, with some good ripe apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread accents, with some toasted, caramelized malt, with some brown sugar, granola, oat cereal, cinnamon apple bread doughy aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, nice spicy nutmeg, cinnamon, gingerbread, fruity ripe apple character with some dry apple granola cereal, strudel pastry flavors, with some caramelized, toasted malt, brown sugar notes, and some gingerbread cookie, bready apple-like doughy accents, leading towards a spicy, nutmeg, cinnamon gingerbred cookie, fruity caramelized ripe apple croustade finish.
