Thanks to Deuane for busting this one out for us to try. Poured into a taster glass.

A - Pours dark brown, bordering on black, with a small, fizzy, one finger tall khaki head leaving spotty lace down the glass.

S - Smells of fire pit smoke, dark roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and graham cracker malt. Very dark smelling but not to the point of being overpowering.

T - Starts off with a big dose of smokey dark roast slowly giving way to a mix of light coffee and chocolatey sweetness and even more smoke. The finish has just as much smokey roast as it did at the beginning, lingering for some time.

M - Heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. A bit thin in the feel with plenty of smokey darkness, lingering through the finish.

O - Not too bad. I would have preferred a bit less smoke and a bit more flavor but that isn’t a huge deal. My big problem with this one is the thin feel. If it had a bit more body I think it could have been real good.

500 ml bottle. Pours black with an orange tint. Very short lasting head. Smells like coffee and dark chocolate. Tastes like coffee, sweet chocolate and ash, with an ashey finish. Body is watery. Nothing remarkable, an okay stout, no more.

Aroma: chocolate, soft malts, aromatic citrus vitamin powder like. Solid.7+
Appearance: dark brown with creamy coffee beige top. Handsome. 4-
Body , Flavour , Palate and Final Notes: smoky , chocolate, dry roast followed. Slight creamy softness with drier mid. Nutty chocolate ending. Neat stout.

Bottle. Black, huge thick brown ice cream cone head. Aroma of chocolate and subtle brandy. Taste is roasted coffee beans, dark cocoa powder. Very impressive for a 5.5% beer.

500 mL bottle. Black with a film of brown head. Roast and chocolate in the aroma, along with a little tinniness. Pretty mild. Lots of roast in the flavour. Not sweet at all. No off flavours. More chocolate as it warms. Good body for the abv. Quite nice.

drougkolya (276) - Otterburn Park, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 8, 2011

Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - NOV 27, 2010
Pours a very dark black with a minimal toasted-marshmallow color head. Smells of dark fruits, molasses, and deeply-roasted malt along with a little bit of vanilla and oak. Taste is very similar; quite complex. Very full mouthfeel and fairly drinkable for the type of brew that it is. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-20-2009
