2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
4oz taster at Balthazar. Dark-brown, borderline black. Pretty thick head. Aroma was mainly alcohol with some burnt toffee/instant coffee notes. Taste is basically burnt caramel with a pretty strong earthiness/mud feel (hops, I guess), but still some alcohol. Rather dry, even for porter standards. Not terrible, but one would guess that it was rather in 8-9 ABV territory, rather than 5.5, and it was also surprisingly thin. I’ve drank worst, but I’ll never drink that one again.
Bottle. Dark brown in color, head died fast. Aroma is English ale yeast, chocolate, barley. Flavor is a reflection. Good amount of roast and chocolate. Very flavorful. Spab (4085) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 3, 2016
500 ml bottle from Drummondville Metro. Pours a very dark brown with mocha-coloured head that leaves some lace. Aroma is quite roasty with lots of coffee, a little dark chocolate and some sweet toffee. Flavour has a strong roasty character with notes of coffee, sweetish toffee, dark chocolate and a bit of herbal bitterness. Fine carbonation. Good one. Kauge (2126) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 4, 2016
Tap at Le Saint-Bock in Montréal. Brown with copper/ruby. Toasty aroma with sourish berries. Leafy, earthy. Tastes toasty and sweet, finishes grainy. Not too bad, but again, not exactly what I’d expect when ordering a Porter. paco (576) - Regina, Saskatchewan, CANADA - MAR 29, 2016

Pours a opaque black with a faint brownish hue topped by a finger of tanned fluffy head shwing good retention and leaving some small lacing. The nose is coffee grind, dark chocolate and some brown sugar. The taste is at first more bitter than sweet with strong burnt notes. You do get eventually some mellow torrefaction that’s more enjoyable to the palate. Some sweetness and or more corpus to balance out the bitterness would make this brew really stand out. Cheers! Colour is dark reddish / brown. The taste is that of toasted malt, a bit of cocoa, maybe a bit of something spicy. Really nailed the fine carbonation, good overall mouth feel. Leaves my palate with a bit of...something I can’t quite put my finger on, which is why I can’t rate it higher. Nonetheless; a good porter, overall. veronneaupy (241) - Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 25, 2014
Un nez, on sent un peu le sucre et la mélasse. En bouche, c'est sucré et cendré. On passe du sucre à l'amertume en finale. C'est une version accessible et un peu sucré d'une porter

Big Ben on tap at the brewpub. It has a nice cocoa and light molasses aroma. Malty dark goodness, sweet. A solid London Porter.
