L’Interdite, an American-style India Pale Ale (IPA), harkens back to 1919 when the prohibition laws forbidding the manufacture and selling of alcohol were enacted in the USA. L’Interdite invokes a time when beer barrels were dumped into the sewers during the American Prohibition era. When brewing was again permitted, powerful bittering hops rapidly dominated the market. We brew L’Interdite in homage to these times. Hopped for 90 minutes, this beer is flavorful and…very bitter! Floral and herbaceous notes are complemented by complex citrus flavours and a subtle malty taste.

6.5% Interdite 90 minutes on tap at the brewery. It is a lovely copper gold, the aroma is funky toe jam, fruity and piney. The taste has a solid malt backbone more toe jam, clean sharp bitter pine boughs and some light fruitiness. Hopped every 1 minute for 90 minutes, I was expecting more after I heard this was inspired by the Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. Just OK.

Bottle @ home. Hazy orange color, full sized creamy off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is quite sweetish, lightly alcoholic and it reminds me more of a mix between a barley wine and a quadrupel. Weird. Taste is malts, lightly floral, again sweetish flavours but very bitter in the aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. A bit disappointing to be honest.

Deep amber pour with a thick tan head. The nose is a bit malty with some toasted malt and a bit of soft hoppiness and some nice fruitiness. It’s got a moderate bitterness and is more earthy and slightly dank iced tea hoppiness. Decent - but the pale ale is superior.

341ml bottle. Pours a deep caramel, almost like an Apple cider, with a frothy, one finger, off white head that laces well. Aroma has nice notes of traditional hops blended with some fruity esters, pine, and a hint of citrus. Taste is bitter but balanced. Hints of pine, resin, caramel, more traditional hops, and a drawn out finish. Medium body and carbonation. Slight resin texture in the mouth but still very drinkable. Slightly dry finish. Overall a nice beer. Would have liked a bit more fruity hops but still done well.

Pours dark copper, with a fairly thin off-white head. Medium lacing left behind as drunk. Aromas of red fruit peels and a tinge of molasses. Tastes of caramel, with a definite tea punch. A nice happiness on the swallow. Overall, this is an IPA IN WHAT I LIKE TO CALL THE "tea category". This one is good, but not overly memorable when I think back on all of the IPAs I have imbibed.

341ml bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo. 17-04-201.
In short: a resinous ale.
Pours hazy amber with flocks of sediment, frothy off white head. Good head retention, some lacing. Pine, resins, fruity aromas. Medium body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste follows the nose, earthy, resinous, good hop punch, moderate bitterness. Enjoyable.

Belle apparence rougeatre avec un beau col. Nez de houblons très amère floral. En bouche des fleurs amère, quelques fruits rouges, quelques houblons herbeux sur une grande amertume. Je n’aime pas ce type de houblons de IPA. Décevante...
