As the water supply was often unfit for consumption, farmers in southwestern Belgium traditionally produced a beer to quench the thirst of their workers. Produced mainly for the harvest season, it became known over time as a Saison. This beer was often slightly acidic and therefore more refreshing, exactly what was needed after a hard days work in the fields. Our Saison Tradition is brewed according to traditional recipes of Wallonian farmers. It offers dry, slightly tart fruit flavors accented by a touch of black pepper. Amongst our many tasty beers, this is one of the more thirst-quenching.

Bottle, 50cL. 5.2%. Purchase (@La_Cave_à_Flo, @Cesson-Sévigné, FR). Home. A yellow-orange opaque hazy beer with a big white foamy head ; good retention ; average lacing. Dusty rough biscuit, fruits (citrus, quince), light herb. Light to medium dry fresh bitteracid, sweet note. Light to medium body, thin silky texture, good carbonation, dry fresh acid finish. Overall, just ok ; nevertheless, honnestly, I can imagine that's what a genuine belgian saison tasted like.

Big yeasty smell, pours slightly cloudy golden, foamy dense white head. Taste is somewhat funky yeast, quite a lot of flavour for a light bodied beer, very dry, refreshing and carbonated. A fair bit of a hop bite for a saison, but not too much to be out of character, grassy. Very quaffable.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), light hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of gum, pepper. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Strikes me as more of a plain Belgian blonde ale, but clean and not overly sweet or estery, so that’s nice.

Shared 500ml bottle. Clear gold, creamy white head. Aroma of spice, yeast, fruits. Taste is fruit, spice, yeast, coriander, black pepper. Mildly tart finish. Refreshing.

Aroma: lots of belgian spice with some orange; Appearance: mostly clear orange pour with thin white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: follows nose with dry and bitter finish; Palate: medium-light body with long, bitter finish; Overall: pretty refreshing but a little too powerful as a thirst quencher.

Bierdimpfe (640) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 4, 2016
Veiled golden color with storming activity. Ultra thick frothy sparkling 4 fingers mesa island head, lasting around 20 minutes, and creating incredibly thick legs. Flavors of fresh flowers and lemon, faint cheese and quite yeasty, hints of apples and grapefruits, salty and peppery, herbal spices with clove. Highly vinous and acidic. Slick medium body with champagne like carbonation. Strong finish, sour but very fruity like in a pleasant way, lingering grassy hops, sugary estery fruits, and roasted malts. Overall good quality craft. A little too vinous, but yet the flavors are very tasty and the finish is well intensified. Probably a little too much hoppy, and too thin. Else it feels like a well executed bold spicy saison.

Gluepot (752) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 11, 2016
A big fluffy white head with solid lacing. The straw/gold body is topped by a solid nose of sweet malt, grain, honey and citrus fruit. A really tasty saison! Cereal, Belgian yeast, and touches of pepper and spice work nicely with a range of fruity undertastes - orange, lemon and peach. Some floral hops here too. Plus effervescence helps keep it refreshing.

Bawelt (874) - Lyon, FRANCE - FEB 12, 2016
Très agréable. Nez et bouche très légèrement maltés. Petites notes d’agrumes et de levure. Cela donne justement un côté très ferme avec des nuances de fleurs et de paille. Équilibrée et légère.
