Ah, the English bitters! This ubiquitous style is found in pubs throughout Britain. Featuring a slightly malty and dry hoppy profule, bitters are prized as easy-drinking, thirst-quenching session ales. Our Seiglerie offers they typical light maltiness of a traditional bitter and typical English hops but introduces an unexpected spicy flavour via the addition of a decent amount of malted rye. Dry hopping adds a floral finish without bringing excessive bitterness.

Intrigante !

[Bottle (500ml)] Note: Im certain this bottle is quite old so I will take that in consideration when rating this. Pours a hazy dark orange with a large long-lasting fluffy off-white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of rye malt, decent amount of hops, light spices, some oxidation and fruit. Pleasant enough flavour of bready rye malt, UK hops, light spices, fruit and an average bitter finish -- good amount of flavour for the low abv. Average bodied. Nice session beer, Ill have to try it again fresh.

Bouteille de 500ml achete au Mtro Plus Dpatie Laval. Dguste le 12 fvrier 2015. Bire rousse lgrement trouble vers la fin. Mousse beaucoup, col beige crme trs pais et persistant. Trs trs effervescente, bulles fines moyennes. Odeur de crales, dpices et de levure. Trs douce, peu sucre, assez amre.

Hazy dark amber, almost copper color, with strong activity. Creamy beige 2 finger head, lasting around 15 minutes, with good legs. Pleasant aromas of sweet bread and butterscotch. Flavors of caramel, rye, fruits, floral and herbal spices. Good grainy and bready taste with a nice balance of sweetness and sharpness. Creamy medium body with moderate carbonation. Medium strength finish of moderate length, ending with a sharp crispy floral and herbal spices. Overall a very good craft; delicious flavors and refreshing, nice balance and easy to drink.

Beardbeerman (341) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 14, 2015
Pours a clear amber topped by a finger or so of tanned frothy head showing good retention and lacing properties. The nose is pink grapefruit, rye, roasted nutty malts, earthy hops and some caramel. The taste is bold with pink grapefruit hitting the palate first, closely followed by the nutty malts and caramel. The rye and hops bring a nice bitterness all the way to the finish with a floral aspect. At such a low ABV, you dont expect a lot of body but this one surprises. The brew is thick, heavy and holds a subtle carbonation. This is a meal more than a beer. Cheers!

If nothing else these guys are near the top of the list for weird Quebec beer names. Pour is cloudy amber with a big, persistent tan cap that leaves a bit of lacing. Nose is floral/herbal/woody hops with peppery rye and light bread notes. Tasty is slightly sweet, moderately bitter and a touch sour. Its a bit watery but for a 4% beer this stuff has character. Nice peppery notes throughout that linger along with a light floral/resinous bitterness on the finish. Overall decent bitter with a nice hop profile.

On tap at the brewery, this rye bitter poured a beautiful amber with a thick fluffy beige head. It has a spicy fruity aroma with quite a thick mouthfeel for 4%and a nice malty spice character. A good table beer.
