(2e Anniversaire) Drunk in 2010. Aroma : Nose is bread and yeast with a little brown sugar. Appearance : Pale unclear brown. Little foam that quickly dissolves to a tiny ring. Taste : Quite sweet. Taste is spicy with plums, raisins and caramelized fruits. Slightly woody taste I enjoy. In the more recent 3rd anniversary, the hops could be felt. Not in this one. Mouthfeel : Mouthfeel is alright. Not too watery. Little carbonation though. Overall : Not bad. Tastes very similar to 3rd anniversary, the latter being better. I suppose the beer wouldn’t age very well.

Je me lance. (273-200612)

Not sure about having all of their anniversary beer reviews under the 4th anniversary name is a good idea since the recipe changed from year to year and various reviewers have reviewed different versions. My marks above are for the 4th anniversary but I also tried it with the 3rd anniversary. One of the stores I go to still has some bottles of this sold/renamed brewery and thankfully they are still in good drinking condition. The 4th anniversary is a malty Belgian ale with a strong caramel flavour though maybe lacking a bit of strength of taste and alcohol. The 3rd anniversary has a slightly higher alcoholic content and although it tastes very similar, it has a richer and heavier taste. I would rate that a bit higher than the 4th, a 3.8.

341 mL bottle. Translucent copper brown. Just a ring of head. The aroma is fairly typically Belgian; yeast, bread and fruit. Flavour is typical also. Could use a little more booze. Nothing wrong with it, but doesn’t stand out.

pours pale reddish-brown, off-white little head disappearing immediately. aroma is non-fermented cereals, barnyard malts, toasted bread, and loads of boozy caramel fruity-tart malts. yeast, light spices. seems like some good hops in there. acidic. not good at all... weird for a brewery with good offerings, plus it’s an anniversary brew. maybe belgium ales aren’t their niche at all...

2007 bottled as 1st anniversary. Pours a slightly murky medium amber with a thinning head. Aroma is doughy, yeasty, spicy belgian phenolics, toast, bread, caramel, slight dms. Flavor is thick doughy dirty yeast, caramel and toffee sweetness candy sugar bubblegum belgian phenolics, with earthy leafy dirt in the end.

Pours a reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma is sweet candy, yeast and malt. Taste is a malt backed with a sweetness that lays on the palate with some yeast and bread tastes later. Pretty boring.
