La Glutenberg pale ale américaine est une ale sans gluten, brassée à partir de millet, de sarrasin, de mais et de quinoa. Son nez expressif offre des arômes d’abricot et de pamplemousse. La bouche, d’une belle amplitude, explose avec des notes d’agrumes, spécialement de pamplemousse, véritable signature des houblons américains. Elle présente une amertume relevée, caractéristique de ce style de bière.

Bottle 341 ml. Bought at Peluso (Montreal). Pours clear golden with tiny white head. Aroma: earth hops, pineapple, malt. Taste is malty with strong bitter finish. Balance is so-so. Thin beer. I expected more from this beer, since I have read so much great reviews on this brewer.

Pounder: Briney lemongrass nose. Clear amber, thick head, good lace. Grass. Medium body, easy carbonation.

ALLOVATE (3087) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - AUG 25, 2017
Into a tulip chilled. Orange amber, bright and radiant in the lights. Headless bar an island of bubbles dead centre of the glass. Medicinal, plastic phenols punch through a generally streamlined pale stonefruit and citric nose. Bitter, peppery mace-like taste dominates. Acrid phenolic finish. Starchy, pasty mouthfeel. Buttery front. Vitamin ’C’ tablet flavour over notes of bitter Seville orange. Carbonation is low only tickling the very tip of the tongue. Not the best at all, despite my appreciation of the difficulties brewing with non-conventional sugar sources. Still, it wasn’t drain pour. (47,3cL can, BB, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

This one is not bad. After a disappointing 1st Glutenberg, this one is pretty good for a gluten-free.

Pours amber with a smalll head. Nose shows spicy hops, herbal notes, light grainy malt, a slight syrupy note and light cardboard. Flavours include sorachi ace dill and custard notes, grainy malt, slight confectionery notes and a cardboard and metallic finish.

Can, nose is on agrumes and zests. Aroma is on the same, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange zest, very bitter with astringency, some malt notes but alcohol background. A good gluten free beer but not a good pale ale.

Pours yellow with white head. Aroma of hay, grass, cereals. The flavour is quite undrinkable, a mixture of stale cereals and grass. A dump-in-the-sink-beer.

Lattina. Il gusto al naso ritrova il luppolo. L’intensità olfattiva è elevata e la persistenza olfattiva è sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma cremosa ha una discreta resistenza e finisce con un abbozzo di pizzo sul vetro. La carbonazione è media. La consistenza del liquido è limpida. Le bollicine sono fini, spinte da una carbonazione media e frizzante. Il colore è giallo ambrato. Il corpo è pieno. L’amaro è deciso. L’intensità gustativa è elevata e la persistenza gustativa è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali sono luppolate. Il finale è amarognolo e lungo. Il retrogusto è intenso. L’aroma in bocca riporta sentori di miele, frutta secca, resina, pino, agrumi, pompelmo.

Bierdimpfe (640) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 2, 2016
Bright pale straw color with moderate activity. Faint frothy 1 finger head, lasting around 5-10 minutes, making a good amount of lacing. Flavors of flowers, citrus, wheat, sweet grains, faint corn, and herbal spices. Highly sugary with a dash of sharp bitterness. Slick medium body with prickly carbonation. Light finish that lingers a moment with feels of citrus, flowery notes, roasted malts and grassy hops. Overall decent quality craft. Nice tasty flower bouquet. Good balance between sugars and sharpness. Refreshing and well rounded. Feels a little weird, uniquely flavored.

kramer (6991) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 11, 2016
Can. Pours a clear gold body with a minimal fizzy off-white head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is much better than their Blonde Ale, there’s actually a touch of hops in there. Still smells a big sweet and grainy, but at least it’s some approximation of an APA here. The flavor is still not so good though, a heavy metallic note and more sweetness than desired for the style at its base. The hops do add a slight bitterness, but not nearly enough to balance things out. The finish is especially metallic and chemical tasting. Light bodied and watery with soft fizzy carbonation. I think if I had to go gluten free, I’d just dump beer all together.

Une blonde foncée et une mousse fuyante. Un nez de sucre candi, de cannelle éventée, de cendre et de préparation à pâtisserie, humide. Des saveurs qui se veulent amères où un goût d’alcool à friction, ou je ne sais trop quel ingrédient me fait grimacer. Est-ce le mélange de céréales? Dans du pain, ou encore des crêpes, ça passerait mieux. La finale est doucement sucrée. Ce n’est pas si mal, mais, même si je comprend la difficulté dans le processus, ce n’est pas pour moi ces bières-là. (M.A. 08/2016) (1852-140616)
