Gift bottle brought back by neighbors from latest Minn. trip. Poured to a Czech-pils glass showing a ruby highlighted, black/brown color, with a brownish tan, froth & bubbles head that gradually diminished to a thick ring & bubbly film, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The nose was a hint of sweetness, creaminess & smooth malt, roastiness, cocoa, a touch of vanilla, and coffee/espresso on the back. Medium+ bodied, the flavor presented a roasty, smokey, lingering bitterness that was propelled to the palate by an amped effervescence. Only medium malt backup, with the flaked creaminess more prevalent in the aroma imo. Finished with some tart and dry astringency. deyholla (11759) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 7, 2013
Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours near black with a dark brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma roasted malts and tobacco with a bit of sweet chocolate underlying. Flavor has more sweet chocolate and sweet dark grains with a bit of a tobacco bite towards the finish. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - MAY 5, 2013

Earthy aroma, a little malty and toasty. Starts out with a little sweetness and zest in the mouth which quickly transitions to a slightly bittersweet swallow and a pretty clean finish. Overall, a nice milk stout. camborne (656) - Hopkins, Minnesota, USA - MAR 7, 2013
Toasted malt nose. Bready chocolate maltiness. Very smooth with bittersweet finish. Solid

From tap at Republic. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, liqourice and breadish. Dark malty and breadish, liqourice and roaste malty flavoured. Bitter. dry and roasted herbal. Bitter and dry finish. jeremyh70 (1103) - Missouri, USA - FEB 22, 2013
An opaque dark brown color with a creamy mocha head and decent lacing. Roasty aroma with light coffee and milk chocolate. Subtle hint of fruit. Taste begins with roast and coffee flavors then bittersweet chocolate and a lactose flavor. Mouthfeel is fairly creamy and full bodied but not as much as I expected. Carbonation is medium/ high. Decent attempt at a oatmeal and a milk stout but doesn't really impress as either.

Black pour with a thin light tan head. Sweet chocolate and toffee aroma. Taste is roasted malt and chocolate. Moderately sweet and not heavy bodied at all. Slightly bitter dry finish. Easy drinking brew. JStax (6919) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - JAN 22, 2013
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Pours a still, dark brown to black. The aroma has nice coffee, chocolate, roasty, and lactic sweetness. Some burnt caramel comes through as well. The taste is like a choclate covered espresso bean. Really like the way this beer tastes. I wish this had a little more carbonation. That’s all that’s really keeping this beer from being a standout.
