12oz bottle to tulip. Pours dark brown with glowing red tint, absolutely no head to speak of. Aroma of cocoa, dried fruit, caramel, roasted nuts. Taste of the same with a super sweet berry finish. Mouthfeel is no carb, light watery for style. Can’t say I’m impressed. oakbluff (448) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 15, 2007
Pours a dark mahogany with some ruby tones. Quickly disappearing head. Nose- expected brown malt smell along with a raspberry concentrate smell. Taste- biscuity malts and ripe raspberries. Finishes too quick- not much complexity on the back end. Light hopping. Good cabonation. Beer is somewhat sour as you get into it.Decent effort. RyanMM (416) - Ferndale, Michigan, USA - AUG 29, 2011
Pours a dark ruby-brown, little head to speak of. Aroma is heavy with nuts, fruit, and biscuity malt notes. Smooth, creamy, low on the carbonation but without coming across as flat. Nice sweet nuttiness up front, finishing with biscuit and chocolate notes, without much in the way of hop bittering. Pretty damn tasty and not at all what I’d expected from the bottle. My first from these brewers and certainly won’t be my last. bigcat03 (323) - Columbus, Nebraska, USA - SEP 13, 2015
Bottle poured into an English pint. Had a ruby brown color and a thick tan head. Aroma is very malty with a decent amount of chocolate and a hint of fruitiness present. Taste starts off pretty fruity with a hint of chocolate but quickly shifts to biscuit with a hint of hops. Finishes off with a light hoppy bitterness. Palate is just right for the style with low carbonation. Very fruity for a brown but I like it! joeymacaroni (309) - Wagontown, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 3, 2011
pours a beautiful deep chestnut color with a thin, off-white head. nose is heavy with brown sugar, toffee, nuttiness, and a light butterscotch. flavor is similar to aroma, with a bit of breadiness and dark fruit. nice and light, oily with a light bubbliness in the finish. finish is long, with a sweet maple syrup-like flavor balanced by walnut and toffee.

A strange tasting brew. Clear brown medium color. Very small off white head that quickly diminishes. Extremely small notes of nuts and caramel. Watery in texture and light in carbonation. It has a very strange flavor, I taste some sauerkraut in the back end. Might be because of drinking some Surly Darkness before rating this one that it tastes so bad. Bottle, like four squares two are white two are green. Lots of text, didn't read it.... Dark beer, toasty smell... Toasty flavor. Decent.

The aroma of the Braun Ale is very similar to oatmeal, with some caramel, and a very faint hint of pine as well. It’s not incredibly complex on the nose, but when sipping, the aroma comes through stronger. The palate is very smooth and also full bodied. Overall, a quite impressive beer in a style that I’m usually apathetic about. Try it out. thejoeshow (232) - Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA - NOV 27, 2008
12 oz bottle. Pours a nice brown color with amber highlights. It has a nice white head that has decent retention and lacing. The aroma is wonderful! There are real nutty tones back with a soothing scent of maple. Yummy! The flavor is very smooth and warming. There are big nutty flavors in the forefront and almost a caramel backbone to it. Very delicious! This beer makes a great winter warmer! The mouthfeel is just a bit bigger than a normal brown and that fits in nicely here. I really like this beer. gonzosauce (157) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JUL 2, 2013
Dominated by dry, expansive, weak caramel malt. Most noticeable is the mouthfeel - large-bubbled watered-down-extract expanding to the the degree your cheeks bulge.
