COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ring Neck Braun Ale is the initial offering in the Brau Single Batch Series of beers. A perfect autumn ale, this big double nut brown ale is dry and fruity, yet surprisingly drinkable. Nutty flavor is derived from both biscuit malt and toasted oats. A hint of raspberry and classic British hops round out this mild and complex brown ale.

Single bottle from HyVee. For a "single batch" beer, it sure gets around. I chose a Nonick pint to pour it into; comes out a rather yellowish brown. Smell is lots of brown roast malts, some nuttiness, and even a hint of coffee. Head dwindles quickly to a scrum. Taste is loaded with nut brown malts with a bit of peat. Some earthy and herbal English hops take the usual ale esters out of consideration. A big mouthful of flavor makes it easy to simply enjoy one and put the rest away for later. Not too much later, I get the feeling this would not age well.

12 oz. bottle. Nutty, dry, slightly sharp aroma features Nutella, toast, carob, and caramel scents. Interesting smell. Pours a clear, dull copper to light auburn. Sparkling liquid. Large amount of fluffy, cream-colored head. Produces a smattering of lacing. Simple, sweet taste features caramel and brown sugar flavors. Dull aftertaste. Light body and watery; insubstantial. A bit lively on the palate. This is not my style of beer.

A brown appearance of course. Some nutmeg, chocolate, and toffee in the aroma. The flavor is somewhat sweet and contains chocolate, nutmeg, and toffee. Overall I thought this was a nice brown ale.

A surprisingly good brown ale and very unique too. Aromas of strawberry and bubblegum. A touch of sour cherry too. Smooth nutty flavors to go along with sour fruit notes. Very good.

12 oz. bottle via trade with tytoanderso - Pours a clear brown color with a one finger thick light tan head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is a toasted caramel malt with some light nuttiness to it. Flavor is a lightly sweetened toasted bready malt. Very light bitterness. Medium body. No unpleasant aftertaste. A very good Brown ale. Thanks Tyler.

Bottled sample via oakbluff. Brown-red in colour with medium (albeit somewhat spritzy) carbonation. Aromas of vanilla fudge, a bit of strawberry and raspberry, and some toasted malt. A bit fruit forward in the mouth (raspberry again) with more mild chocolate, toasted nuts, and a bit of earthy British hop. More sweet than roasty. Would be fairly heavy in the mouth if not for the carbonation tingle. A bit too fruity for me, but still fairly nice.

Pours clear, ruby tinted medium brown with a small, creamy, off white head that has good retention. Aroma is lots of buttery toffee, creamed corn, cereal grain and biscuit. Flavor is more buttery toffee, buttered popcorn Jelly Belly jellybeans, toasted nuts, sweetish cereal malts, light fruity notes and a bitter planty note toward the finish. Palate is light bodied slightly slick and moderately carbonated.

Bottle. Biscuty and lightly toasted malt aroma. A hint of cocoa powder, which I imagine derives form the oats. Pours a fairly attractive rich brown with some nice amber highlights. Flavor is slightly nutty with some malt and oats. A tough of roastiness. Nice offering! Keep it comin’, Dustin and crew!

Bottle. A- Malty, subtle dried fruits. A- Dark amber color, clear liquid, tan head. T- Cooked veggies, spinach dip, subtle fruit, malty, caramel. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, astringent finish. O- I wasn’t sure if I was drinking a beer or pureed spinach dip from a chain restaurant. This had a lot of vegetable flavor to it although the descriptions on the bottle were there too, just minimal.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a tight kahki head that fades. Aroma is good roasted malt and some plesant coffee scents and maple. Taste is nice and roasted malt along with some funky sweet maple. Palate is medium feel with a mellow carbonation and finishes dry. This is one of the tastier Brau Brothers I have had. Good stuff.
