On tap. Aroma has notes of toasted caramel malts and bittering hops. Deep hazy amber hue with a small off-white head that left little lace. Flavor is medium sweet and bitter. Palate is medium bodied and oily with an average carbonation. Overall a good brew. phranq (250) - - AUG 3, 2017
Nice aroma of spice and caramel malt from a clear copper pour. Taste is hearty spice and sweet malt giving way to a sweet boozy finish. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - AUG 6, 2009
At St Paul Summer Beer Fest 2009. Poured hazy yellow with a nice white head, smelled of faint hops and had a good hop profile in the taste. Nothing crazy, but a solid beer. OD40oz (774) - Box Elder, South Dakota, USA - AUG 9, 2009
Pours a copper color with a frothy white head. Nice pale ale hoppy taste and finish. fidelis83 (2497) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - AUG 14, 2009
Pours hazy burnt orange with a 3 finger off white head that has great retention. Aroma is caramel, pine, citrus, brown sugar, sugar cookies and sweet graininess. Flavor is caramel, toffee, citrus, light woodiness, brown sugar, biscuit, woody notes and a little pine. Finish is mild grapefruit, some pine, lingering brown sugar, biscuit and mild bitter hops. Palate is lightish bodied with a slightly dry entry and slightly more dry finish, smooth feel and moderate carbonation. I found this to be a nice, hoppy, very drinkable beer the best I have had from Brau Bros. so far.

Bottled. Poured milky, yet healthy golden with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma was fragrant and very enjoyable with earthy and light citrus hoppage over thick biscuits and caramel.. the malts actually stole the show, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. The flavor had the same biscuit and caramel malts at the core, surrounded by a bit different bitter hop array than the nose (white pepper, resiny pine, and earth present here).. finished with thicker sweetness and sufficient residual bitterness. Medium-bodied with fluffy carboation on the palate.. sweeter than it was bitter, but balance was there.. a bit slick at times, which impeded the flow slightly. This was by far the best brew I’ve tried from these guys. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 3, 2009
Gold pour. Aroma contains lots of caramel malt, citrus hops and some crackers. Flavor is bitter and malty with citrus hops standing tall. Nuffield (4189) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - MAR 15, 2010
I thought this was rather good in sum even if not in its parts. I can see why some would have said that this seems like a homebrew--I’ve had homebrews (admittedly from award-winning homebrewers) that are more polished and sophisticated than this, but despite being a bit noticeably strong (alcohol) in the flavor, and lacking complexity in hops, it strikes a rather nice balance between hops and malts--it’s plain in the aroma and then in the flavor it carries through with a rounded woody caramel. Sweetish finish without any hop unpleasantries. Decent and drinkable. islay (2931) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 16, 2010
12 oz. bottle. Biscuity aroma features orange, peach, yellow plum, and golden raisin fruit scents. Barley wine-esque smell. Also reminiscent of white wine. Smacks the nostrils with its power. Highly appetizing aroma. Pours a bronze to light amber color. The liquid is clear and effervescent. Moderate amount of yellowish, cream-colored head. Good, long-lasting lacing. Dry taste. The taste is less complex than is the aroma. Interesting finish that is heard to describe beyond being spicy, and I’m of mixed opinion as to its desirability. Light grape flavors, but mainly dusty dryness. Mostly English barley wine-like, but some dry Belgian, saison-like notes. Dry finish. Medium body. Easy to drink, especially given its strength. The palate effects generally are not remarkable. Low on the liveliness scale. It’s remarkable how different the flavor is from the aroma. The fruity notes of the aroma are barely present at all in the taste. Enjoyable and interesting, though not great (but good indeed). I’m glad I tried it. milewide (2304) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 17, 2011
Beautiful red amber color with medium head. Fine combination of malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Good brew, but no different than many ales.
