On tap at the brewery. Hazy golden amber colour lasting off white head. Malty aroma. Nutty malty in mouth. No real hop but some residual sting on the finish. Actually the hop builds. It’s an unfiltered something. It’s a hoppy kellerbier I guess. Tasty malty unfiltered and frankly bloody lovely. Beer of the day so far. Hops hops and unfiltered softness. Niw that is what I came to Franconia for. Stunning and you won’t get this quality of beer anywhere else in Germany or the world. Bottle. Golden color, hazy. Peacharoma with floral notes. Thin to medium bodied. Malt, apricot and floral notes in the flavor. Fairly complex, bit somehow lacking in balance. Fizzy. Koelschtrinker (21489) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 16, 2013

Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting.
Body is light amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain, husks), lightly hoppy (herbs), with light notes of DMS and dish rag, hint of airplane glue.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, slightly unclean, slightly husky.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Quite sloppy and fairly dirty...not much in the nose and what’s there is not attractive at all. Dirty and husky aftertaste too...ugh. It’s kind of funny, actually...I visited the brewpub with a friend back in 2011, and after sitting down for a few minutes, the sight and smell of the place turned us off enough to leave without trying anything. A year later, another trusted friend said not to worry, I didn’t miss anything...the beers suck even fresh from draught. So this time I thought it would be worthwhile to at least try one bottle (best before August, sampled in May) of their highest-rated beer. I must confess I do not see the mass appeal of this brewery. Oh well. RexTalionis (3798) - FINLAND - MAY 10, 2013
Bottle 50 cl. Pours hazy orange in color with a whitish head. Hay and grains in aroma mostly. Some sweet malty tones in taste, a bit of hay also. Has got a soft and smooth mouthfeel, and I do like the hay and grainy notes in this brew. Slightly bitter and sweet with some butterscotch and toasted bready notes in aftertaste. Tasty and refreshing atleast.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at One Pint Pub, 20130509) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, grain and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, grain, herbalness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was herbal and bitter. A good zwickel. jonas (8035) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - NOV 12, 2012
Bottle. Cloudy messing colour, a little floculation, huge rocky golden head. Wonderfull spicy aroma: Honey, flowers, grassy hops. Good chewy body, honeyish malt, light salty edges, big grassy and aromatic hop notes. Sparkly smooth mothfeel. Yeasty fruit and armatic hoppy aftertaste. Lovely moreish beer. hawanna (3364) - Freising, GERMANY - NOV 6, 2012

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Hazy pale amber, incredibly firm rocky head. Aroma of hay with a whiff of smoke. Dry with medium body. Soft, yet really firm. Doughy and fruity, mildly smoky with just the desired amount of butter. Deep, complex character, yet mild and drinkable. Growing late bitterness. A laid back, perfectly balanced beer displaying the best of Franconian craftmanship. motelpogo (8031) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 7, 2012
Bottle, picked up at landbierparadies. Quite a steady shade of deep golden with a lingering white head; aroma of hay and cold porridge; hints of stone fruits and plenty of slightly metallic bitterness. Nothing special but good quality like all Wagner offerings
