Slightly hazy with a thin head. More herbal nose with light bready malts. Refreshing full-bodied. A touch drier than the hell, with more spicy hop character. An even better take on the rustic Franconian lager concept than the Urtyp. Delicious. 3fourths (9345) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 20, 2009
fom vass at du sonne in bischberg. light yellow, faintly cloudy. creamy, silky pure white head. beautiful. zesty, crisp, hoppy, juicy, wonderfully balance of light crispness and pillowy/foamy yeast with a frothy/full and thick texture. fills the mouth. zesty lemon grass and pine nuts along with some honeydew, honeysuckle, dried lemon rind and mild floral perfume. amazing zwickel. shamefully unappreciated here on ratebeer. Pale yellow colour, mediumsized creamy white head. Lots of lace. Aroma is bready malts, some hints of grass and yeast. Flavour is bigtime yeasty along with slight citrusacidic notes. Also some mild grassy and diacetylic notes. As it warms up it gets a bit honeyish as well.
Draught at the brewpub in October 2009: Hazy dull yellow. Fluffy and pasty white froth. Rustic nose of peppery hops, fresh hay dust, lemongrass, mineral and candied lemon zest. Soft, expansive carbonation. Sharply grassy and mineralic with a vividly defined yet seamlessly integrated and multilayered pils malt which imparts some fresh bread fluff and toasted hay. Dab of dusty yeast enriches the malt while a flowery Hallertauer succulence lines the center and gracefully adorns the pillowy pils malt. Deeply hoppy with a faint lemony twang adding lift as it complements the grassier aspects. Finishes delightfully snappy with a salty mineralic bite interlaced with spicy hops and whispers of pils malt and dusty yeast. Very clean and endlessly quaffable.

Tap at Sonne, a hazy light yellow with a soapy white head. A very pretty yeasty-bready nose, but it’s in the mouth where it really makes its bones. Sweet and blinding flash of citrus, and a mushroom cloud of bread and yeast. Medium body and quaffable, liked it enough to order another Seidla, though the second wasn’t as good.
