COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hopfen: Magnum, Saphir Malz: Münchner, Karamell-, Röstmalz Darkon is inspired by traditional recipes. Nothing but dark malts, are used to create the characteristically mild roasted aromas of bitter chocolate and toffee. Darkon besinnt sich auf die traditionelle Herstellung der Schwarzbiere und wird ausschließlich mit dunklen Malzen gebraut. Für milde Röstaromen wird ein Teil des Malzes im Trommelröstverfahren hergestellt.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Hazy near black, rich, firm head. Fruity nose with some coffee and metal. Mid dry with clean mouthfeel. Cocoa powder and vanilla, some metal. Light resiny bitterness. Why on earth is it impossible to find proper traditional German beers in Sweden, yet we get this mediocre modern style pseudo-micro junk?

Bottle 33 cl. Tasted double blind. Courtesy of yespr. Pours an almost clear orangey brown with a creamy beige head. Some roast in the nose. Medium body, hard roast malt and a roasted bitter finish. Not too bad but a little one-dimensional. 190211

Bottle from Maruhn, Darmstadt
Dark brown and mahogany color, almost black; generous head. Mild aroma of roasted malts and caramel. Lean body (not weak though), with a dryish mouthfeel; mild flavor of roasted malts and coffee; correct bitterness. Pleasant but unimpressive.
