Bottled as "Freigeist Ottekolong". Shows a hazy orange with a medium sized spongy white head on its top, which diminishes to a thin film. Mild citric-earthy smell. Lemony aroma escorted by bread and earth underpainted by some hints of honey, mouthfeel is slick. Citric, bread-crusty finish. Good.

Clear gold pour fluffy head. Aroma of bread yeast, hops. Tastes bitter honey, hops bread. Slight sour. Very dry finish.

Vom Faß in der Braustelle, Köln-Ehrenfeld. - Orangegelb, sehr trüb, sahniger weißer Schaum. - Nase erstaunlich verhalten, schwach zitrusfruchtig-hefig. - Antrunk kräftig hopfenbitter mit Orangenschale, eingebettet in weiche Hefe. Mild rezent.

500mL bottle as "Freigeist Ottekolong." Nose lightly sweet of the candyish variety, juicy grassy and herbal hops, light citrus and grain. Pours clear golden with an abundance of very fine carbonation and a sizable sudsy white head, looks beautiful in the Stange. Very pleasant, soft maltiness with spike of candy sweetness and grain, pale malt and light citrus. Hops exude a bit more perfume on the tongue, maintain faint grass and juicier aspects. Clean if a little hot, light bitterness revealed by the end. Pretty good one, seems to have withstood the trans-Atlantic voyage pretty well.

Orange/amber hazy colour with a medium compact head. Smell is hoppy with bready notes. Taste is dry, with a definite hoppyness, I would say also licorice. A nice beer.

Bottle pours hazy gold with rich foamy head. Nice lacing. Melon, earth, straw, biscuit. Light bitterness and sweetness. Medium creamy body.

Hazy light orange - thick, frothy lace - very tasty and interesting take on the style - full, frothy texture in the mouth - dry, toasty maltiness (a mixture and bready and crackery character) - light tangy acidity through the middle is followed by a mild balancing sweetness - moderate earthiness and crusty bread is followed by a complex finish of hop character (peppery character, moderate bitterness, tropical fruit) - my words are not really doing this justice, but this is one tasty beer - I love Freigeist!

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a bit of doughy malt with some grass and lemon. Flavor is pretty decent. Big chewy, creamy, yeasty malt with some grassy hop to finish things off. Very malt heavy for a lager style but they make it work. Not my favorite style but this is one of the better ones. I guess an un-filtered kolsch is the way to go.

Dobry kolsch, z bojna piana i przyznam ze pierwszy raz niefiltrowanego kolscha pilem. Przyjemne tresciwe, a jednoczesnie orzezwiajace. Piana naprawde spora i trwala. Mglistosc i metnosc porzadna. Skromna buteleczka kapslowana z jedna tylko etykieta.

500mL bottle purchased at City Beer Store. The aroma has some sweet graham cracker notes present. Light mineral without much else. Seems a little on the sweet side. Unfiltered, moderately hazy golden body with a nice, strong, fairly large white head present. Starts with a pretty grassy, herbal, and aggressive hop bitterness. Light malt biscuit character in the middle, before the hops become way overbearing later on. Quite herbal, and much more bitter than I would expect a Kolsch to be.
