subtly complex, no two drafts(swigs) are the same.
love the texture but too carbonated for me, need a more vigorous pour next time.
A dark reddish-brown coloured beer with a frothy white head. A light, roasted malt aroma, fresh ground coffee, cocoa nibs and a touch nutty. A medium-dry mouthfeel. The taste starts off with a dry roasted malt flavour, coffee and nutty, but this is followed by a slighty sweeter milk chocolate flavour that balances the dryness. The finish is smooth and malty.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of frothy tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a semi-opaque softly carbonated dark ruby red brown colored body. The mild aroma was brown black and red malts. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of mild roasted malt dark malt and brown malt. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again. Chopper925 (585) - Gross Gerau, GERMANY - JAN 11, 2015
Bottle. Dark reddish-brown color, medium beige head. Dark chocolate, roasted malt and coffee aroma. Dry taste, very good balanced bitterness. After this come some nice roasted malt, chocolate nuances, light lingering sweetness. Flat but refreshing carbonation, medium mouthfeel. Bottle. Pours a dark, brown-red with a foamy beige head. Nose of bread and lightly toasted malts. Flavor is mild blend of chocolate, caramel and some fruit. Some earthy character. Light to medium in body and well carbonated. Finish is sweet, roasty and a bit metallic.

Extremely dark brown with ruby highlights and a thick tan head. The nose is malty with notes of chocolate, caramel, and toast. The texture is silky smooth with soft carbonation. The taste is sweet with a quick, dry finish and no aftertaste. crossovert (13724) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 21, 2011
11.2 bottle, got it in a sampler with 5 other brews.
Pours a dark brown with hints of copper on the edges with a nice off-white head that leaves good lacing and a froth atop the beer.
The smell is right on for the style with notes of caramel, slight chocolate, pils malt and a pinch of hops.
The taste is richer and bolder than most schwartzbiers which isn’t necessarily a good thing, but it is decent here. It has a large smokiness to it along with some bittersweet chocolate. There’s not much hops in the flavor. The mouthfeel is watery which doesn’t help this flavor.
The high drinkability that is usually present in this style is altered a bit by the mouthfeel.
I’ll go with Koestritzer over this anytime but this is cheaper.

Typical schwarzbier with burnt barley taste................................. Aurelius (5479) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 17, 2009
UPDATED: SEP 17, 2009 Toasted cereal, malty German aroma, with just a whiff of wet dog. Clear, medium-dark walnut brown with a big, beady, tan head that lasts a long time. Good label. Tarry, molasses sweetness. Roasty, turning a little sour, nutty. A good black beer, not too burnt, not too thick. You could drink a good bit of this pretty easily. Medium, chalky mouthfeel, leaves behind a brief sour stout aftertaste. World Market. thegreenrooster (4512) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 24, 2009
Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is filled with caramel malts with a nice roasted quality to it. Flavor is some chocolate with a bit of a nutty aftertaste. Leaves a little coffee on the tounge after the swallow. This is a soild schwartz with lots of flavor profile for a German beer
