Erzengel (9355) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - FEB 14, 2015
*Old rating. Best before 25.08.05. Hopfig-herbes Bier, malzig im Hauptteil, trocken, mild, röstmalzig, nett, aber nicht zu intensiv-Schwarzbiertypisch.

Chopper925 (585) - Gross Gerau, GERMANY - JAN 11, 2015
Bottle. Dark reddish-brown color, medium beige head. Dark chocolate, roasted malt and coffee aroma. Dry taste, very good balanced bitterness. After this come some nice roasted malt, chocolate nuances, light lingering sweetness. Flat but refreshing carbonation, medium mouthfeel.

StueyD (1586) - Heacham, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JUL 12, 2014
A dark reddish-brown coloured beer with a frothy white head. A light, roasted malt aroma, fresh ground coffee, cocoa nibs and a touch nutty. A medium-dry mouthfeel. The taste starts off with a dry roasted malt flavour, coffee and nutty, but this is followed by a slighty sweeter milk chocolate flavour that balances the dryness. The finish is smooth and malty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

hotstuff (5233) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 11, 2013
Rated on 7-17-2009 (Bottle) This beer pours a small beige head that mostly diminished, brown body and a good amount of lacing. The Aroma is caramel malt and roasty. The Taste mimics the Aroma. The Palate is lightly tingly and this beer is medium bodied. This is an easy drinking beer but lacks character and no WOW factor. This is not a bad beer...it just did not leave me wanting to drink this again.

Koelschtrinker (21318) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 21, 2011
11.2 bottle, got it in a sampler with 5 other brews. Pours a dark brown with hints of copper on the edges with a nice off-white head that leaves good lacing and a froth atop the beer. The smell is right on for the style with notes of caramel, slight chocolate, pils malt and a pinch of hops. The taste is richer and bolder than most schwartzbiers which isn’t necessarily a good thing, but it is decent here. It has a large smokiness to it along with some bittersweet chocolate. There’s not much hops in the flavor. The mouthfeel is watery which doesn’t help this flavor. The high drinkability that is usually present in this style is altered a bit by the mouthfeel. I’ll go with Koestritzer over this anytime but this is cheaper. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-28-2010 21:50:04

Grima (2506) - Merzkirchen, RLP, GERMANY - JAN 23, 2011
Pitch black with a slight reddish tinge. Smells sweet malty, a minimally roasted note comes through. Starts malty sweet, subtly roasty. Pleasantly bitter coffee-like aftertaste.

Frank (4225) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 20, 2010
This stuff pours a nice black color. The head is small but does leave some nice patches of lace. Nose is mild roast and sweet raisin malt. There is a pleasant drinkable quality to this beer and a nice maltiness as well. Slightly sweet but w/ just enough carbonation to cut through, this is a rather well put together beer. The bottle I am drinking right now does not justify a super high score but I am putting this on my list of things to try in Germany to see what it’s like perfectly fresh.

Finhead (1800) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - JUL 13, 2010
Extremely dark brown with ruby highlights and a thick tan head. The nose is malty with notes of chocolate, caramel, and toast. The texture is silky smooth with soft carbonation. The taste is sweet with a quick, dry finish and no aftertaste.

AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - JUL 8, 2010
Deep brown color/ tan head. Mild roasted nut, chocolate aromas. medium bodied. Thin chocolate, medium roast, sour malt flavors with a lingering tobacco juice finish.
