COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Snow Shovel was first brewed last year during the winter months. One of the brewery’s most popular seasonal releases, the brewers of the Covington-based brewery felt that the ginger, cinnamon and honey notes best complemented rum barrels. The 11.4% ABV winter warmer in freshly dumped Caribbean rum barrels makes for a Snow Shovel you’re not going to want to miss!

on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of malt and hay, overlaid with alcohol. Opaque black, thin beige head that disappears, lace dots. Taste is malt and molasses, light fizz, and slight hops that is pushed aside by alcohol. Strong, lacking in fizz, only average.

22oz waxed bomber. Unfiltered amber-brown body. Rum really well with the style. Massive barrel tones clean it up. Sweet, but not entirely overwhelming. Good.

22 oz. bottle from the brewery. Pours a dark, somewhat hazy cola brown with a small beige head that settles into a thin ring. Ginger is probably the most prominent note here, followed by cinnamon, brown sugar, caramel, cola, honey, wood, and a fruitcake character underneath it all. Medium-bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a spicy, fruity, earthy mouthfeel. Good winter beer.

Bottle to glass. Boozy aroma that hints at honey and some rum sweetness. Thin lace and dark brown appearance. Initially the rum hits along with ginger but fades into a nice malty, honey sweetness. Finish is clean and body is medium. Overall nice.

Tap. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, rum and spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderate duration.

Draft at Braxton release from notes. Pours a dark cola brown color with a thin beige film. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, rum, caramel, spices, dark fruit, ginger, also a bit thin, good, clearly better than the original base beer, I wish it had more body to carry the rum and spices, but is still good.

bomber with difficult white wax to remove. I rated the based 3.3, but since I have been warming up to rum barrel aged beers, I figured I’d give this a whirl. Well, the nose is clearly sweet rum, vanilla, ginger and a medley of spices. Powerful rim presence at first, but it mellows quite quickly. The rum adds a welcome addition to the base. thereby making this more complex and more enjoyable. Truly a winter warmer. Quickly becoming a sipper. Great balance. rum finish, light chocolate flavors, and more of that spice bouquet.
