"Big malty sweet, strong and quite spicy. The heat is nice but doesn’t allow for much in the way of complexity. Not bad, but not one of my favorite pepper beers either." Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - DEC 2, 2012
On tap at the brewpub in Portland, OR. Pours a cloudy, deeper orange-amber colored body with a finger-width, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is peppery chiles with a bit of a coffee and cocoa, a somewhat toasty malt backing with a light honey sweetness, and a light heat. Flavor is similar. Lots of chile peppers with a bit of a green herbal note, but well balanced with a somewhat sweet toffee and toasted malt backing. Touches of cocoa and coffee with a light honey sweetness before this finishes fairly dry and somewhat bitter with a good amount of peppery heat and a bit of a cinnamon spice. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty nice beer. Lots of hot chile peppers, but well balanced with a nice malt backing and a few spice notes. Good one. mcberko (18429) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 12, 2012
On tap at Breakside Brewing, pours a hazy amber orange with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted nuts, toffee and some miscellaneous spices I cannot discern. Flavour is complex, full of spices, some feint chipotle peppers giving a nice kick, some toffee nut, some cinnamon and other spices I can’t pick up. Unique and unusual, but very drinkable. beersearcher (2382) - Glendale, California, USA - FEB 14, 2012
Pours red brown. Some strong malt taste that is quickly overwhelmed by a big hit of pepper. Strong and spicy. troopie (2379) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - SEP 10, 2011
Draught at brewpub. Great looking beer. Malty aroma with a rubbing alcohol note. Flavour is alcohol with a little malt. Not much of a finish. This beer tastes a lot like whisky.

Faint maltiness on the nose. Clear, dark golden with orange highlights. Pepper heat starts and influences the rest of the flavor; moderate bitterness. Medium light mouthfeel. An interesting beer. The pepper heat is noticeable, but not over the top. Adds more to the flavor than actual spiciness. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 17, 2011
Tap @ Breakside... Poured clear, golden with a white head. Lots of honey sweetness, toasty grain quality, herbal, mild heat. Super well balanced. Like drinking a sugar cereal with some spice in the finish.
