Poured from the tap. Dark brown with beige head. Lots of bourbon and vanilla, not much else shows through. Bourbon is a bit too overpowering of the other flavours. Lighter body. Long, sweet, slightly cloying finish.

Black pour with thin tan head. BIG barrel heavy nose - bourbon vanilla fudge and wood. Flavor is more akin to 12-14% than 10, but is tasty as a sipper.

Bottle (12oz). Dark reddish brown with near no head. Aroma is mostly bourbon. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate and some alcohol warming. Some sweetness. Very nice.

Gerbeer (4219) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 9, 2017
12 oz bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown with almost no head. Aromas of sweet bourbon, candi sugar, toasted malts and oak. Flavors of follow same though mostly bourbon with light vegetal notes. Interesting, but other than barrel influences can’t really say what the base beer is. Would not guess a porter.

Dark brown. Oily, inky appearance. Boozy, nice sweet malt aroma. Big...flat...has a lot of barrel. Some darker sugars and understated bitterness in the base beer. Nice big beer.

On tap at John B Pub, pours black with a tiny head. Aroma is loaded with bourbon character, with lots of vanilla and caramel. Flavour is very sweet, with lots of bourbon character upfront, followed by vanilla, caramel and treacle. Quite sweet, but not cloying. Nicely put together.

fiulijn (21537) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 16, 2017
Draught at John B Pub, Coquitlam
Black color. Mild aroma of bourbon. Good body strength, but also quite strong alcohol; not much malt depth, sweet liquorice, mild bourbon.
Quite cloying actually.

Bottle. Colour...jet black with a thin head. Nose...heady with Bourbon, burnt vanilla, charred marshmallow and dark toffee. Palate...dry, tannic, and volatile with ethanol , this beer is loaded with oak, vanillin, and dark chocolate crisps. The mid palate has a swath of tanginess and the finish is long, lightly sweet and boozy.
