On draught at Breakside Taproom & Brewery. Dark deep golden color. Aroma is caramelized citrus, rye, and a touch of whiskey. Taste is caramel, toffee, rye, and grapefruit. Whiskey aging makes it almost seem like a barleywine. douglas88 (9516) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 17, 2014
On tap at the brewery. Pours a copper color with a medium white head. A sweet barrel oaky nose. The flavor is similar: no real IPA here, big sugary barrel notes, some fresh fruit, berries. Light heat. BrewDad (5328) - Olympia, Washington, USA - FEB 16, 2014
Super color and aroma. Loved the flavors and the finish. Nice Rye flavors and aroma coming off the beer. This was a terrific barrel aged IPA. trevor211 (1681) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 5, 2013
On tap at Brouwer’s Big Wood 2013. Ruddy orange pour, with a great aroma. I could smell this all day. Unfortunately, that doesn’t translate to the flavor, which is like an IPA that’s fighting to keep the hop notes at the forefront. Rye and fresh hops beg for some blending and a bit of sweetness. Grows on you, but this one smells far better than it tastes. Suttree (6466) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 29, 2013
Sampled at KillerBeerFest 5 at Bailey’s Taproom. Caramel, loose foamy white head. Smells spicy and peppery, with a bit caramel. Vary heavy palate. Nice mix of caramel and spicy notes. Caraway seeds? Or is my imagination getting the best of me?
