Pours black with thick tan head. Sweet chocolate taste when it first hits the tounge, quickly followed by malts and light bitterness. A nice beer. unclemike (3121) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - FEB 17, 2014
Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, caramel. Taste is rather sweet with malt, chocolate, caramel, plums and other dark fruit. Medium body, soft carbonation, nice swee chocolaty finish BrettTaylor (776) - Radford, Virginia, USA - FEB 15, 2014
Poured from cellar at 52F. Pours almost black with a khaki head, about two fingers. Head dissipates moderately quickly but never goes away, and leaves medium amounts of lacing. Aroma smells of rich milk chocolate, dark dried red fruits, and just a hint of yeast. Tastes mirror the aromas, with chocolate and dried fruits leading, a touch of coffee, some mild hop bitterness, dark malts, then a long, smooth, round finish that leaves me wanting more. Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is quite sweet, chocolately, bready. Has a slight bitterness on the backbone and a great chocolate sweetness upfront. A really nice stout. gkeh (482) - Texas, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Ah what a stout. We all know what a stout pours. Nose is cocoa, roasted coffee, cherries? Taste is sweet chocolate, molds bitterness. Great Stout.

I remember having this beer before and liking it, however this bottle seems to have gone bad and has started to sour. Tastes like chocolate and tart apples. alliance100 (1152) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JAN 29, 2014

Dark brown almost black color, tiny bit of mocha head that dissipates. Smells of chocolate, malty, a little roastiness, caramel, a slight earthy funk. Taste is a little lacking in definition. Not a lot of flavor pops out. A slightly sweet chocolate taste, lactic, some roasted hop bitter, some saltiness. Ends with a dull bitter, no sweetness, some roast. Maybe some coffee tones in the middle. Mild carbonation, slick mouthfeel. Overall lacks any definitive character, but not necessarily a bad beer, just not as bold as I was expecting. Alcohol is tame, and the slight roasted flavors is all it's got going, even the sweetness of the chocolate taste is very subtle. Not too impressed.
