COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barleywine Batch #2, our second annual barley wine, has a new take on our classic style barley wine. Aged in French oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels for 6 months, it hits the palate with hints of prunes. There is a round maltiness and a bit of hops, with a subtle cabernet finish.

22 oz bottle picked up locally. Pours a deep copper/reddish brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have big sweet caramel, brown sugar, dark red fruit character, light toast, hints of floral character on the nose, I got a hint of the Cab barrel character especially on the finish, wood, lots of caramel to the finish.

Purchased 3/30/2015 enjoyed 2/4/2016 in a Mad Elf tulip.

Look - Murky. Dark brown to purple. Medium bubbled tan head. Lacing is good.

Smell - Plum. Wine. Ale. Grapes. Cherry.

Taste - Plum. Wine. Grapes. Cherry. Bread.

Feel - Goes down smooth. Very dry. Sits just fine. No alcohol burn.

Overall - I am surprised the rating is so high. Barleywine in wine barrels is great. Deuces.

On tap at Breckenridge Ballpark poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting than head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, toffee and dried fruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, bitter chocolate and dried fruit with a smooth dry lingering fruity chocolate finish.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, dark fruit and wood aroma. Medium to heavy toasted malt, dark fruit flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is solid beer.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter a darkest brown with effervescent jhead that quick left...
Aroma definitely has a cabernet scent. Malty. Such sweetness.
Flavor of thick boozy prunes. Berries. Molasses. Balanced quite well. Would have loved to nab a second bottle to lay down.

Thanks to Beerlover_Ben! 655 ml. bottle sampled @ “Hot & Sweaty RBBSG 2015”. 2015 Vintage. Blackish dark brown, little mocha. Nose interesting, quite a bit of sweet dark red cherry, barrel, vanilla, oak, caramel, dash dark fruit,… Taste is dark cherry, brown sugar, light oak, tannic, coffee, sugar, candy, dash booze / varnish,… Dash thin. Not superbly attenuated, dash messy but quite nice all the same.
