Bottle. Toasted malt aroma with notes of dark fruit, toffee and a hint of spice. Pours dark caramel colored with a thin tan head that has little retention and some lacing. Starts with dark fruit and toffee malt flavors. Finishes smooth with toasted malt and a hint of spice as well as some booze, which is surprising considering the low ABV. Not bad, but hoping for better. Drake (14358) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 10, 2016

Aliquippa, Pennsylvania - Barney’s Bar and Grille - on tap. Dark brown pour, thick, khaki colored head, nice lace. Aroma has some toffee accents, a touch of licorice. Flavor is nutty, some chocolate accents, a bit of licorice in the back end. Thick enough mouthfeel. obguthr (6923) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - SEP 13, 2016
Dried leaves aroma earthy with treacle accents, not strong. Ruby brown, hazy, medium yellow head, minimal lacing. Dried leaves, cherries, and elderberries, wood on the back end. Medium body, moderate carbonation, alcohol well concealed. I don’t have a lot of experience with the style, it’s not my favorite but I enjoyed this one. I think this a style that just must be served from a cask. ttoadee (1691) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 5, 2016
Nice deep copper pour, finger of off white head, little lace. Nose is tootsie rolls and toffee. Bittersweet. Middle is sweet malt, dark fruit, little spice. Finish is sweet and a little smoky. Went nice with a smoked cheddar and some Gouda.

On draft at Flying Saucer, this sucker is dark, with only a hint of amber. Totally malty, but only a little roasty. Just enough flavor to make it worthwhile. tmoreau (4808) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JUN 30, 2016
Shared 12 oz. bottle at Lunar Brewing Co., poured to a snifter showing a clear, brownish mahogany color, with a modest layer of off white head foam, and spots of lacing. The nose was a bit of caramel, dried fruit, fig, and a hint of cherry. Light to medium bodied, with okay carbonation, the taste was dry and grainy, with moderate, earthy bitterness. Esters didn’t seem to transfer to the flavor. Better aroma, and not really that "Strong" for this interesting, but neglected Burton Ale style.
