COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Aroma is more subtle than expected. It is pleasant but missing some of the dark grain characteristics. It is a nice dark cola color with a small tan head that leaves uneven lacing. The vanilla was not as pronounced as expected but it is there. The rest of the taste is a little thin. Overall still enjoyable enough to recommend to people that might be wary of darker beers.

Manages to walk a lot of lines. A sweetish beer that doesn't cloy, a porter that isn't too sweet. Probably want a bit more dryness, but wtheak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Scol (14) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - MAY 22, 2017
Smell of black olives, nice dark brown color, vanilla in taste (obviously). Very smooth and easy to drink, but this is rather a minus for a porter - very thin watery body. In total very light and pleasant dark beer, but not a real porter as to me.

Originally rated on 12/31/08. Aroma is a vanilla and white chocolate mix, Flavor also had the vanilla/ white chocolate mix but it also had a nutty roasted malts. Sweet and slightly thin mouthfeel, overall it was o.k.

Dayton Dragons, draft. Taste artificially vanilla. Tastes like vanilla extract, not vanilla bean. Mediciney. Eh. Sounded like it would be better than it is.

StoutBeerReviews (148) - Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 23, 2017
vanilla notes are sparse but taste very authentic. its really just a hint of it tho, I wish they bumped it up a notch. otherwise a very typical simple porter. Its heavy on the dry side, and i’m not a big fan of dry beers.

dambor (688) - Berlin, GERMANY - MAR 17, 2017
Pours dark brown with small head. Aroma: caramel, roasted malt, some dried fruit. Taste: caramel dominates, some roastiness and maybe a slight touch of vanilla.

3.9
Gluepot (640) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 16, 2017
Really tasty, well balanced 5.4% porter. The nose features chocolate milk, vanilla, roasted malt and vanilla. Lots of the same in a nice creamy mix in the taste profile. Touches of coffee, caramel, almonds and other nuts, and tea round out a smooth taste experience. A really nice brew. It’s obviously hard to get good ratings with the ratebeer crowd unless you are a hop bomb or an Imperial Stout. Pity.
