Brekeriet White Label
Brekeriet Cassis is a sour ale mainly fermented with Brettanomyces yeast. Black currant is added during the secondary fermentation and this yeast loves berries which is shown in the fantastic taste of the beer. Brekeriet Cassis is refermented in the bottle which gives a thin layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

Red with a pink head. Smell of cassis, funk, wild berries, light malts, some stable. Moderate sweet, alot of black currants, funk, wild berries, moderate acids, quite interesting stuff

Sampled at Brews For New Avenues 2015 - Pours reddish purple with a pink / purple head. The aroma has raspberries, cherries, cream and a mild tartness. The flavor starts with sharp berries, vinegar, sourness, heavy acidity and overall harshness. The finish is pithy and the harsh portion of citrus. Fantastic aroma, but the taste was on the excessive side of sourness for me.

(750ml batch #14 bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Oct 13 2015) Pours very hazy deep burgundy with a moderate, lasting medium pink head and some lace. Aroma has obvious black currant/cassis core, a bit tannic, some sour black cherry, musty notes with light Brett funk, touch of oak and oxidation and a bit of lacto as well. On the palate it’s again led by jammy cassis with a bit of dark cherry and blueberry, light lemony lacto sourness, oak, musty but not really funky, touch herbal. Finish is fairly soft and round, lacto, black currant tartness, no real aggressive sourness or funk. Light to medium body with farly soft carbonation. Fruit extraction is really nice here, it’s like a cassis lambic without the aggressive funk profile. If anything a little mild as a result, but it’s elegant and I like it!

Burgundy color with purple head. Aroma is very rich and fruity, with blackcurrants, bitter dark cherries and blackberries. Taste starts sour and fruity up-front, not much complexity but really intense on the dark fruits. It’s like a fruit lambic without the funky notes. It’s really nice overall, clean sourness and lots of fruits.

Grumlig röd/lila öl med rosa skum. Doft av svarta vinbär, citrus, surt. Grymt god i samma bana med vinbären som dominerar och en riktigt schysst surhet. Strävt slut. Gillas! @SBWF2015 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 750ml. Pours purple/pink/red with low pink head. Some lacing. Aroma is of mustard, vomit, fruits, metal, blood, coffee, blueberries. Taste is of acidity, black currant, blueberries. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Soft carbonation. Overall: Good, fruity. A tad tangy. Not really outstanding, but quite nice.

Thanks to VanJamer @ BA for this bottle! Pours a deep red with a pinkish rim that leaves some lacing. Nose is a bit weird with a slight "smoky" presence that is disturbing to me along with slight musty basement, oxidation and fruits (cassis). It gets better as it warms, though, with more cassis shining through. Taste is moderately acid and equally weird/awkward. For the first few sips I get tomato juice... Unsettling. After that, red fruits, jam and oak. Body and carbonation were average and mouthfeel is definitely vinous. Overall it got better as we went down the bottle but it was so weird that I might not be tempted to try again.

bottle shared by tropicalMC, thanks bro. hazy dark pink-purple with a reviving light pink cap, some lacing. obvious cassis, earthy stone fruits, peppery melons, funky tomatoes, blueberries, rosé wine, melon fruitiness, light to medium acidity - plain citric mostly; pink pepper. moderate to light carbonation, light body, tart and spicy-peppery finish. linear tartness with a bright cassis fruitiness.
