Fruity aroma of citrus peelw ith notes of barnyard.
Fruity flavour of brett and barnyard with notes of bananas and hops.

Funky, smoked Georgian cheese and some spruce in the nose, a little bit of olive oil, a little spicy-oregano and some funk in the mouth. Light body, smooth texture, spicy-slightly bitter finish. Today I’m trying my first beer from Brekeriet. It’s a Swedish brewery from 2012 who only brew with wild yeast. I’ve found myself this bottle of Funk Starter; a Farmhouse ale brewed with Brettanomyces. It’s coming in at 5.5% ABV. It pours a slightly hazy golden colored body with a fizzy head that disappates quickly. It has a very funky and peppery aroma with some fruity notes too. A bit of spice and bread as well. It smells like a watered down saison. All the classic saison flavors are present but toned way way down. The taste is light and a slightly sour. There’s some definite notes of funk, citrus and spice. It is really light though. The most dominant flavor is the funky yeast. The sourness comes through a little better in the aftertaste, but vaguely. I guess the name suggest that it’s a starting beer for people who’s just been introduced to brett. I’m a little disappointed to be honest. It’s not a bad beer in any way – it just doesn’t have that funky and sour kick that makes it memorable. It’s refreshing and goes down super fast. Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is peppery yeast, bretty funk, fruity notes, mild tropical, hay, melon, soft spicy/herbal notes, with a slight touch of vegetables. Bottled @ Mbargo. Hazy golden, long lasting white head, good lacing. Barnyard aroma, citrus and mature cheese. Light to medium bodied, mild carbonated, soft mouthfeel. Funky barnyard taste, peppery yeast, citric, mild smoky notes, ham and hay. Pleasant!
