Bottle at home in London - big thanks to Fredrik for hooking it up in the trade! Pours cloudy, deep gold with a large, frothy white foam head. Lots of tangy funk in the nose, sweaty armpit, zippy lemon. Light to medium sweet flavor, lots of bretty funk, some lemon, dank grapefruit, melon, background doughy bread. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Moderate sweetness coupled with sturdy funk, some dry yeast, a bit of sugary dough, tangy lemon, mellow grassy bitterness. Great stuff overall, very dynamic. Quite refreshing, cleansing. And punches above its weight class. Countbeer (6591) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - FEB 17, 2014
Bottle: Thanks Papsø: Served in a Duvel glass:
Medium sized white foamy head on top of a darker yellow colored beer.
Aromas of yeast, flowers, brett, vanilla, cream, hay, earth and some rubber.
Flavours of floral tones, different yeast, some brett, some saison yeast, some flowers, nice bitter, some cellar and dusty tones, crispy, hay, some herbs and hops and a hint of wood with flowers.
Aftertaste is a mix of biters, yeast, flowers, some malts and light dry.
Medium carbo, creamy mouthfeel, very good balanced more than just a medium body and a ligh creamy texture.
I love this stuff! Lovely mix of yeast, some nice flowers and a good bitterness. Wel done! floydian1 (1477) - FNQ, Australia, - OCT 14, 2014
330ml bottle in Copenhagen with expiry 26/11/15 (Batch no 22). Hazy pale golden with a large foamy white head of good duration and soapy lace.
Nose has musty barnyard funk with citrus and peppery spices. Flavour is peppery and bitter with a grassy hay hop bitterness. Medium bodied palate with spritely mouthfeel. Overall an excellent Saison with Brett-like elements.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2014 Several classes better than Orval when Funkstarter shows a fine balance between sweetness and bitterness, malt and hops. Very nice saison where they have chosen to give the yeast space without exaggeration and acidity. murran (680) - - JUL 4, 2014
Pours a light amber clear body with a medium airy head. Nicely funky aroma with a fruity taste.

Lightly hazy body is a pale, straw-golden and is topped by a small, but well-retained white head.
Awesomely understated funk in the nose slowly builds up with tons of basement, light barnyard and some slightly more bright, fruity brett notes. The heavy, but mellow funk slowly burns off (or the nose accustoms to it) and is replaced by dry, wheat-like cereal notes, delicate honey and cracker. Pleasant fruity esters have just a hint of pineapple-like brett daintiness and there is no alcohol or flaw.
Dry but with a soft, wheat-like texture (or maybe just dextrines). Just enough honey-like malt sweetness to balance the beer without taking away from the dryness. Lemon-lime-like brett notes are delicate and complement the soft, peppery phenols. Herbal and peppery hops linger on gently, with easygoing fruitiness and a hint of tartness to clear the palate. Delicious, modern saison!
Bottle from Systembolaget. Very funky smell with some fruity notes and something that reminds me of nettles or maybe kiwi. Similar taste with a peppery note. Very nice.
Pour is hazy golden amber with a moderately bubbly white head. The nose is nice, strong lemon presence with a moderate yeast undertone and light balance of peppery spice. Lightly candied sugar and citrus hop presence behind. Taste follows the nose, spicy Saison yeast, lemon, candied fruit, balances hop bitterness in back. Semi dry, well carbonated, crisp on the palate. Good stuff.
