Brekeriet Black Label
Roken is a Scanian smoked beer brewed with smoked whiskey malt. Fermentation takes place with a mixture of various yeast strains, including the genus Brettanomyces. The beer is carbonated naturally by fermentation in the bottle and will therefore give a thin layer of yeast on the bottom.

@ Havregatan. Flaska från Systembolaget (50:-). Mycket rök, en aning sötma, Islay-whisky, ladugård!, charkuterier, medelfyllig. Lång rökig avslutning.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2013 330ml bottle, best before 2014-10-18, at tasting on 18 November 2012. Thanks to Anders37 for bringing it along. I’m generally very happy with smoke but this was smoke extreme. A bit too much. Very medicinal. TCP. Band aid. A bit sweet too. Interesting but felt unbalanced.

Bottle 330ml.

Light unclear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, barnyard, wood, smoke, peat. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet with a long duration, smoke, manure, peat, dry. IMO. quit weird and odd. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130222]

The is saison like but with a lot of peat. Taste with a little lemon and citrus. After that the peat takes over the taste. I have aged this bottle for a couple of months and that seemd to have been a good idea.

On bottle. Clear golden color. Small white head. Huge smokey aroma. Sweet taste with a small touch of smoked wwhiskey malt. Easy and short afternotes.

Already on the scent, I feel that this is not a beer that appeals to me. The scent is strong taste of smoke. Although the flavor is heavy with smoke. The aftertaste thinned out a bit and the smoke does not feel too hard. I’m sorry to give this such a low rating, but I manage to not drink this beer.

Ett väldigt gott rököl. Smak och doft av rök, läder, järnvägsslipers, tjära, whiskytoner och en aning karamell. Lagom söt och med en snäll beska. Brekeriet = ett väldigt spännande bryggeri.

Hazy orange with white head. Aroma: smoked ham, peaty, very dominant smoke in aroma. After sipping some time some funky brett character shines through...not sure if those two flavourprofiles match...? Tastw: slightly sweet, smoked ham, funky, fruity, some brett character but taste is aswell dominated by the smoked malt. More interesting than good. Brett and smoke? Maybe...

Hazy golden color with generous head. Very peculiar aroma, a lot of peat, some landjäger sausage, burnt paper too, petrol. Dry mouthfeel; unfortunately the burnt paper feeling overwhelms the peat; there is also some sourness from these malts, and a lot of chemicals and phenol. Too much bitterness.
Really weird.
