330ml bottle pours very dark brown, almost black, with no head and a few slow forming bubbles. Aromas of burnt toast, espresso and tobacco. Dark earthy flavours of roasted malt, ash, dark cacao, rye bread, brown sugar and filter coffee. Powdery body and grainy texture with very light carbonation. Bottle at VilleValla Pub. Opaque black liquid with medium light tan head. Aroma of coffee, bitter chocolate, licorice, citrusy hops and toast. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of coffee, bitter chocolate, grain and light citrusy hops. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice! This was a really good porter. Very impressed. Beautifully black. Was quite difficult to pour without much head. It was frothing up out of the bottle.

Brussels. Black, medium tan head. Espresso, hints of condensed milk. More carbonation than one would expect. Taste interestingly combines the sweet mill coffee element with good bitterness.
330ml. Pours opaque brown/black, with thin tan head. Little on the nose. Taste milk and chocolate/coffee. Overall: a pleasant porter based on a historic London recipe. Modern ’black ipa’s’ are not too dissimilar.
