Half at the brewery shared with the thepeter at Thomas’s b’day drink. Opaque very dark brown, off white foam head. Another classic and brilliant porter from Brew by Numbers. Nose is chocolate, black coffee, caramel, roasted malt. Taste is the perfect balance of flavours, not the coffee and roasted malt bombs that are popular right now. Luscious chocolate, moderate coffee and roasted malt, caramel, some dark ruby fruit notes.
330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 09/07/2018
Near-opaque deepest of brown body, holds dense tan head.
Nice nose - cocoa, burnt toast, roast nuts, toast, licorice.
Full body, starts quite rich, chewy, becoming dry, acrid roasty. Low carbonation.
Flavours are savoury - licorice, roast nuts & toast & cocoa with earthy hop character lingering with good bitterness.
Very good porter! zvikar (6349) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - OCT 17, 2017
Pours brown with a beige head, aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, flavor of chocolate, coffee, caramel, toffee, medium bodied CraftyHare (111) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - SEP 23, 2017
330ml bottle pours very dark brown, almost black, with no head and a few slow forming bubbles. Aromas of burnt toast, espresso and tobacco. Dark earthy flavours of roasted malt, ash, dark cacao, rye bread, brown sugar and filter coffee. Powdery body and grainy texture with very light carbonation. Long finish with a good smack of espresso bitterness. The heritage of the brew adds some interest. VsXsV (4528) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 29, 2017
Bottle at VilleValla Pub. Opaque black liquid with medium light tan head. Aroma of coffee, bitter chocolate, licorice, citrusy hops and toast. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of coffee, bitter chocolate, grain and light citrusy hops. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice! Quite coffee forward for a porter. tmdaines (132) - Stretford, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - JUL 13, 2017
This was a really good porter. Very impressed. Beautifully black. Was quite difficult to pour without much head. It was frothing up out of the bottle.
Taste was of really bitter coffee, but not necessarily of coffee having been added. It was far more ingrained in the taste of the drink.

Draft at Waterloo Tap. Tasty, roasty lactose porter with plenty of body. A decent quality ’strong’ porter.
